[Disclaimer: if a few words or expressions are not quite fitting please bear over with me for I am little else than a strange Norwegian]

This one was created when I feel that my players needed to feel a bit more at home in Sharn so I detailed Myshan gardens in detail to be able to better describe their home ward to them. I wanted to create a sort of breathing room where people were nice to each other, an oasis of calm and honesty in all the decadence that most people associate with Sharn. And even though this corruption is most likely over the bridge, this place is still a quiet and relatively safe area. But that could change any minute, after all the PC's are living here.

Myshan Gardens:
Community leader: Jack (Halfling expert 5)
A former barrister who after a quite successful career now has retired to Myshan gardens to live a quiet life. He sees the community as his extended family and is always looking out for their general welfare. But from time to time he finds a favorite among the inhabitants, such as the young orphan Half Orc known as Trekk (magewrighth 1) who is currently studying at the Moongrave University on a scholarship granted by Jack. Both Jack and Trekk enjoy sitting in the park discussing philosophy with the many colorful people calling this area their home.

Local Tavern: The Half full cup. (Sign is a mug of ale under a tap).
Run by a family of half elves (the Nihro).
Father: Edgar (bard 1) singer & entertainer world traveler.
Mother: Melissa Expert 1, barista/bartender and keeps a tight ship so that her husband won’t ruin the family economy.
Daughter: Miranda often referred to as Mir, a pretty and popular young girl whose hand is well sought after in marriage. Especially by Trekk.
Son: Mathi (warrior 2) He used to be an outgoing and laughing boy, but after a few years of service in the Brelish army at the end of the war he is now a more quiet and reserved. Now he functions as a guard for the community and bouncer at the half full cup.

The half full cup is not as big or as shiny as the pubs and drinking places in Olladra's Kitchen. Outside the pub is a bit of an oversized sign with the taverns name on it. Built into a stone tower the entrance and about 20ft of the wall is covered in a dark oak finish symbolizing what space the tavern actually fills up. It's a gathering point for the locals when they need a simple glass of ale, or when the community needs to make a decision. Once every -midsummer night equivalent- the Nihro's host a great street party where everyone in the community is welcome to participate. The usually calm and mellow streets are suddenly filled with entertainers and people competing in different sports. Most noteworthy are Bonk, a variation of our Bocha, but all the balls have various magical properties. And the wildly popular Masked Kings, a variation of Stratego with live people armed with nonlethal weapons (think simple LARP rules here).

Park:
The local park is more a large intersection with a great cluster of oaks where the children can play than it is a park. The locals manages the park themselves, mostly it is Turin an employee of house Valadis who takes care of this.

Militia:
The local community hosts a local militia that can be rounded up for special cases, mostly this consists of commoners with a short spear.
But lately Jack has convinced the Trio consisting of Gunnar, Corp and Destir to help out with basic training and general protection.

Lillys store:
This store is run by Lilly (human commoner 4) and her son Adelai (human commoner 2). It is a convenience store where you get basic cooking supplies and other mundane items such as hammer, nails and rope.

Other noteworthy persons:
Corp, Destir and Gunnar bloodaxe all live together in one of the more luxurious apratments. They are mostly freelance adventurers. But when they aren’t out seeing the world they usually hang around home, in the park or at the local tavern. They tend to work for house Cannith and there are rumors that even the grey lanterns have requested their services.
Corp (wizard 6): a Warforged evoker, who mostly keeps to himself, but if you can handle his odd conversation topics he is one of the finest crafters of arms and weapons in the area. He was created a few years before the end of the war and never got any field experience other than the basic training.
Destir (rouge 6): grew up in Sharn and until he met Gunnar and Destir he had never left its comforting walls. Now he has traveled over large parts of southern Khorvaire, but still longs to explore the mystical continent of Xen’dirk.
Gunnar (Barbarian 6): Grew up in the Eldeen Reaches but even early as a child he wanted to explore the world, met the other two a rainy night in Sharn as so many adventurers in this town does. He has seen a great deal of the world already, but he and his trusty greataxe never say no to a promising adventure.

----------------------------------------
I posted this mostly so that if someone else would need the info they would have a bit more to work with. But I’m always open for input. And feel free to ad other home made points of interest to the thread.

Ooh, I've got a bunch of these!

The Centre for Warforged Re-Education (cliff face North of Middle Dura)

Jutting out from one of the major bridges in the Tumbledown district is a sturdy, straight, line of stone that now connects Sharn to the cliffs a few hundred metres to the North. At the point where the new bridge meets the cliff is a huge shell of a building being dug right into the natural stone and one's imagination is still free to guess at what the eventual form will be. However, if such a thing were possible, the Centre has the beginnings of looking entirely friendly and appealing.

Already, above what will soon be the main gate, is the Kundarak crest, with the identification of the Warding Guild just beneath it, and the Cannith crest, likewise with the identification of the Fabricator's Guild just beneath it, on either side of the crest of the City of Towers. Many dwarves, half-orcs, humans and hobgoblins dressed in the uniform of the Warding Guild hurry about the construction site, magically shaping the stone, directing small earth elementals, and installing doors and the like.

At the base of the bridge an entire contingent of the Sharn Watch is stationed and expecting trouble, led by Commander Lian Halamar himself. The halfling, though shorter than most of the troops under his command, rides a magebred wardog that stands as tall at the shoulder as an orc. A handful of Wardens of the Blackened Book are present, wands in hand, ready to defend the construction site at the slightest provocation. Commander Halamar's expression is smug, daring any to attack that which is in his charge.

The Broken Mirror (Olladra's Kitchen District, Lower Central Plateau)

Nestled between two thin alleys in a quiet corner of Olladra's Kitchen is an unremarkable building who's only feature is a large rectangular mirror above its door which looks like it has been smashed with a brick. What most don't know is that this is a lilyden known as The Broken Mirror, purportedly owned by the enigmatic criminal syndicate known as The Tyrants.

Once you enter the doorway and pass through a thick crimson curtain you are hit with the sweet smell of dreamlily being smoked out of long thin pipes by almost everyone inside. The room is dimly lit by slowly pulsing glowing orbs scattered on the walls, ceiling, tables and floor, each of which is changing colours randomly. A dozen low tables are each flanked by extremely comfortable-looking couches perpetually occupied by wealthy addicts and starving artists. The left wall features a bar with high stools tended by a grinning, apron-sporting bald man with a white rag draped over one shoulder.

In the middle of the room is a raised circular stage currently occupied by a gaunt, blond, blue-clad human who is performing a solo dance that mostly consists of violent kicks and a lot of arm flailing. The expression on the dancer's face slowly turns to horror, however, as you suddenly notice that the tops of his boots are lined with sharp teeth and the dancer is, in fact, trying frantically to kick the boots off. To the amusement of those watching, the dancer falls to the ground and tries comically to tear them off. Soon the fanged boots manage to completely consume him and inevitably they fight and consume each other. Once the howls of laugher die down, the dancer appears again on the stage with a blinding flash and a puff of blue smoke, and he takes several deep bows to the sedated applause of his audience.

You, however, are here on business, and the person you are here to speak to is on the far side of the room. Sitting apart from the other seating areas is a huge circular table, covered with dozens upon dozens of plates featuring practically every kind of cuisine available in Sharn. A large hole in the center of the table is filled with an unimaginably obese human suspended on a Tenser's Floating Disk. His many rolls of fat are covered by a loose-fitting white robe speckled with stains and drippings. His arms are a flurry of constant motion, reaching out indiscriminately for handfulls of food as his floating platform slowly rotates, one hand shoving food into his bald, baby-like head as the other reaches for yet more. This is Murdoch, and his business is secrets.

The C.L.P.P.C.N.P.M.D.U.W-i-P.T.D.P.S.O.O.M.N.I.U.M.T. (Ashblack District, Upper Cogs)

The Centralized Location for the Purposes of Purchasing and Consuming Nourishment and Potables, Meeting to Discuss Upcoming or Works-in-Progress, Theorizing, Design, Postulating, and Showing Off of One's Magnificent New and Improved Upgraded Models of Things.

(Or the C.L.P.P.C.N.P.M.D.U.W-i-P.T.D.P.S.O.O.M.N.I.U.M.T. for short.)

(Or "The CL" for really short, but don't let them hear you call it that!)

Amidst the intense heat and dense air of the Cogs, nestled between a great foundry and a small Sharn Watch guard post is an unassuming metal box, slightly taller than a man and wide enough for about two men abreast. It appears rather the worse for wear, dirty, smudged, partially cleaned and resmudged with layers of grease and grime. Painted accross the top are an array of letters too faded and obscured to properly decipher. The first two are "C.L." which presumably must be some part of the name for this place.

The door is not locked, but only two grown men can fit inside at once. Upon entering, the front door locks and the ground begins to shake. A loud *WHHHHIR* erupts from all around, followed by a *SNAP* and *THUNK* as the front door locks. The floor lowers in a fashion far more graceful than is let on by the racket it makes. After a few moments the ride slows to a gentle halt, and a wall bursts open to an enormous array of moving gears, stairs, tables and walkways. Everything is in motion, and it appears as though each segment of the bar is carried, turned, raised and lowered independantly of the others. Someone unused to the sight might develop quite a headache from watching it.

A mix of races - humans, dwarves, gnomes, halflings and even some goblins - populate the bar, but they all share a few traits in common: every one of them is chattering very enthusiastically about something highly technical-sounding. Almost every one of them is wearing somekind of cover-all, and the few who are not are splattered by grease all the same.

The bar itself is the central platform, the only one that appears to stay still. It is fashioned in the shape of a massive gear, and commands a view of the entire establishment. Tending the bar is a gnome wearing violet-lensed goggles that seem far too large for anyone's head to bear. Rather than walking from one edge of his bar to the other, he rides a large mechanical squirrel which, now and then, surges with a bright yellow flash of lightning. His name is Widget, and it will be his pleasure to tell you all about his latest project...

The Blinking Dog (Callestan District, Lower Dura)

The inns and taverns in the Callestan district are dark and grimy. Vermin run like water through the streets on a stormy day, including rats that scurry into shadows and foul men and women who study you with avaricious eyes. The Blinking Dog itself is no exception. The only way to tell it from the other dilapidated buildings that line the dark corridors of the district is by the sign hanging above an open doorway which bears a glamoured illustration of a sleek grey dog which disappears and reappears at random.

Despite it's poor location and worse upkeep, The Blinking Dog sports a unique feature. The walls inside are covered with a coloured mural which portrays an amusing parody of the magical beasts that the various Dragonmarked Houses use in their heraldry. Behind the bar, a gorgon sits on a comically small stool, its brows furrowed in concentration as it tries to tinker with a clockwork toy soldier using its hooves. To its left near the door to what passes for the kitchen, a cockatrice holding an impossibly long scroll is squawking at a bored-looking unicorn whose feet are tangled in the scroll and can't seem to get away. To the right of the entrance, a sickly Roc sneers distatefully at a mug of putrid liquid been offered to it by an eager blink dog.

As you move further into the dim room, a goblin in the far corner beckons you to his table. The slim green figure is standing on a bar stool, leaning over the pile of parchment that's scattered in front of him. There are no fewer than three inkwells on the table and easily half a dozen quills scattered about, leaving trails of black dots all over the place. As you approach he barks an order at the barkeep for another round of ale, apparently he's buying. The goblin's name is Pot-Belly Poncha, a go-between who passes messages to House Tarkanan for a small fee.

Smiling at you as you take your seat, the goblin says, "The scene I'm working on right now is set in a tavern not terribly unlike this one. It features a clever little goblin who, for the right price, makes sure the right people hear the right things. I'm having trouble coming up with the dialogue, though. Do you have any ideas?"

The Three Demons (Ashblack District, Upper Cogs)

Amid the honeycomb of passages just wide enough for the carts and caravans that transport goods to and from the surface is a small establishment marked by the sign above the door with the crude image of three red imps. The heat from the nearby forges and furnaces is palpable, and smoke and sulfur scents the air. These two factors drive many a labourer to seek a cold drink at The Three Demons.

The door is guarded by a burly human who holds on to any weapons potential patrons might want to bring inside. He is less than gentle as he pats you down. Once inside, the interior is a single room, dimly lit by everbright lanterns which contains little more than a few wobbling tables populated by soot- or grease-covered patrons drinking a black ale. The barkeep is Yvonne, a muscular woman with fiery red hair, known to be a magewright of some skill. She never serves a drink, however, instead there are three imp-shaped figures composed of red mist that jump from table to table serving the patrons. Yvonne takes orders and gestures to the imps and they perform her bidding.

I hope someone finds them useful!

The Sunset Bakery (Redstone district, Upper Dura)

Owned by Jilzaera Baker, the Sunset Bakery produces fine breads, pastries and cakes. The seating area has a large, west-facing window and tables enough for fifteen customers. In addition to baked-goods, the Bakery also serves fresh mango juice and "curry of the day," a spicy stew with chicken, fish, or spider meat.

Additionally, the Sunset Bakery is a meeting place for local khoravar. The monthly unity meals held here are a casual, middle-class counter-point to the ir'Tains' fancy galas, and khoravar adventurers require no invitation to attend. These unity meals can be an invaluable source of information, with attendees ranging from fine artisans and artificers, to merchants and lawyers. Jilzaera's daughter, Thaelaes, can efficiently guide a party through the stone jungle that is Sharn. She also cultivates a surprising variety of connections at all levels of society, from goblin street-sweepers to Morgave professors to Tarkanan thugs.

Secrets
Thaelaes is my PC. By day, she's just a city guide, but by night, she's a skilled cat burglar. She could be an adversary for inquisitive or bounty-hunting PCs. Personality-wise, she's friendly, cool-headed and wry. In combat, she dislikes killing; she'd prefer to slip, sneak, or run away from a fight, either by jumping and climbing where others can't, or hampering her foe's movement. If clearly out-matched, she'd surrender much sooner than die fighting.

Other khoravar at the Sunset Bakery's unity meals could have all kinds of hooks. Perhaps one of the merchants is an Aundairan spy, or one of the artificers a member of an underground, anti-Cannith guild.

The Spurious Beetle: A Goblin Delicatessen

Location: Malleon’s Gate, Lower Dura
Proprietor: Najun Yaagan (Goblin commoner 5)
Specialties: Tea-Smoked Spider Eggs, Spicy Fried Beetle Grubs, Snail Buns
Regulars:
Narvo Dvankelu: A goblin artificer of great skill as well as a source of seemingly bottomless rumors, urban legends, and general gossip. He can generally be ‘bribed’ with a few tea-smoked spider eggs to share a little of what he knows.
Dashlag Grithnaut: Though she claims to be nothing more than a simple honest scrap dealer, Dashlag is known to accumulate all manner of secrets and supposedly cast of objects. Her collection of documents is particularly impressive and some claim that she has in her possession everything from stolem love letters to state secrets to lost and discarded wills.

Down a rather unremarkable alleyway between two dilapidated shops lies The Spurious Beetle, one of Sharn’s hundreds of Goblin Delicatessens. Like others of its kind, the Beetle is a meeting place for the cities large goblin laboring class; it is also one of the finest purveyors of authentic Sharn goblinoid cuisine. Here you will find tea-smoked spider eggs (made only from the eggs of the giant spider, not from inferior egg-paste), curried pigeon, fried beetle grubs, glazed and roasted rat (only the finest, most succulent rats are used), cold beetle salad, barbecued snail buns, stuffed carp, and innumerable other delights.

The clientele of the Beetle is, as one would expect, mostly composed of goblins although some of the more adventurous of Sharns non-goblinoid population frequent the Beetle having been converted to the spicy and complex flavors of goblin cuisine. Those who visit the Beetle had best keep their ears open, for the goblins who frequent the place are known to gather all manner of secrets and tidbits of information, one never knows what one might overhear at the Spurious Beetle.

The Pointy End
Location : Middle Tavricks Landing, Deathgate
Wares : Armor & Weapons
Staff :
Rantor Pleege-Proprietor (Dwarf Fighter 2/Magewright 7) A jovial sort, boisterous to say the least, Rantor prides himself on his relationships with his customers. Once you step though his doors, expect to be treated like a noble. That isn’t to say he is a pushover, nothing of the sort. If bargaining is an art, Rantor is a master. Don’t be afraid however, odds are you will leave with a better deal than you expected whether you realize or not. Word of warning though, if you're planning a little bit of thievery, best not attempt it here. Then again, who could steal from such a good man?

Dann’el Preston-Apprentice (Human Magewright 1) Rantor may have “never met a stranger” so to speak, but it would seem that Dann’el, or Done-yet as Rantor calls him, has never met a person he has ever liked. Forced into apprenticeship by his family, he detests every moment he spends at the Pointy End, and has been very slow in his development as an apprentice. In fact, he has been here long enough to complete three apprenticeships, as his family is more than willing to mention every chance they get. The only reason he hasn’t been thrown out on the street is Rantor, and because of this the young man is, if nothing else, loyal.

Description:
Walking into this shop is like entering an adventurer’s guild, as trophies of all sorts line the high walls. It is deceptively big, much larger than appears from outside viewing. Though nothing but a trick of perspective, it adds to the hall like atmosphere that permeates the vast establishment. Racks of armor and weapons run the length of the shop, from pole arms to boomerangs, all arranged and sorted in an almost artistic manner. Full suits and stuffed creatures form imposing scenes of battle throughout the shop and though you know they are nothing but decoration, you still can’t shake the feeling that they are observing you with an interest that could be considered disturbing. Another trick of atmosphere you assure yourself, an impressive shop to say the least. A three quarter height wall hides the far end, a perpetual glow and the sound of endless crackles emanating from behind. Surely a forge, no mere pawnshop is this.

They say if want a piece of armor, a reliable weapon, and an honest deal, go to the Pointy End. The proprietor there has a reputation of giving his patrons a five to ten percent return on any sale or purchase, so why not check it out? What can you find there you ask? Truth is you’ll never know from one day to the next. Sure they have the normal assortment of the more mundane, but when it comes to uniqueness, this shop is one of the best-kept secrets in all of Sharn. You never know when you might stumble over something from Sarlona, Argonnessen, Xendrix, and heck even from the depths of Eberron itself. How does he do it? How can he have such a wide variety of exotic, expensive, fair but still call Deathgate his home? Now that is the question. Some say he’s just lucky, and has built a strong relationship with many adventures and traders. Others theorize that his business may be a turnover operation for merchandise too hot to sell in the more respectable areas; heck the man is TOO friendly after all. Still others go around saying that he is the agent of one of the houses, there to keep an eye on interests that are unknown to most, kept supplied by the house to keep up the front. Whatever the reason, all the rumors have done nothing to affect the popularity of this shop with adventures and the slumming noble alike.
