Shifter Racial Ability suggestions?

Let's not discuss the encounter powers for a second.

Each race gets two little benefits. For instance, Halflings get +2 AC versus OAs and +5 vs fear. Eladrin get a bonus skill, weapon proficiency with longswords, +1 to Will/+5 vs Charm, and a Trance.

So, what are some good ones for the Shifter race(s)?

I'm thinking of giving the Razorclaw the "Wild Step" elves get: "You ignore difficult terrain when you shift (even if you have a power that allows you to shift multiple steps)". But even with that, they're missing a thing or two.

I'd give that to all of them, but otherwise you might wait until the next PHB comes out, as it will have the Primal power source in it which the Shifters may have an affinity with.

But I don't want to wait!

Among other things, I'm replacing elves with shifters in my campaign setting.

So, one of the worst implimented types of shifter was the one which could scent track while shifting.

I'd like to give shifters, in general, the ability to track by scent. I think it's a good flavor for shifters, and it's certainly a useful power.

What 4e skill function for Track?

I would assume nature.

Edit: Though as I think about it, it would be very reasonable to use Streetwise in cities as well.

The only thing in tracking is under Perception, and it's just Finding tracks.

Well, since it would focus on sense of smell, perhaps allow them you use perception to track by smell. -x to DC for very recent (less than an hour) +x to DC for longer times (more than a day). -x to DC if they subject has a strong or distinct odor (following a Troll, or someone who smokes cloves), +x to dc if there are other strong smells interfering (Tracking through the fish market, or past a tannery).

Basically, they stop and check periodically, and on a successful check, they can tell which way the target has gone.

I am at work so I can't double-check my math, but when I looked at the example Shifter PC WotC posted along with the Warforged article, it seemed to me that it had extra healing surges per day. 2 extra, IIRC. That's what I plan to give my shifter PC as "extra". Seems like a pretty big benefit to me so I didn't add anything else. (Though that wild step thing certainly makes a lot of sense.)

Of course, I could have done the math wrong! Wish I had my PHB....
