They were a little short handed, and not fairing that well to his encounters. I then talked to my friend and found that they were missing a controller and decided I was going to challenge myself RP wise. Normally I play evil characters verging the chaotic end. So why not have an invoker of a religion I once dismissed as goody goody? All I know is that we're in Eberron and that is geared towards RP. I haven't been given any other information and so I tried to make this as broad as possible while still having some aura of specificity. So now an entry from the journal of Sir Father Donn: Before it all started, I was a simple priest to the Flame. I had proven myself worthy of graduating the seminary after those five years of study and devotion. I had not the privelege to see the Great Cathedral in Flamekeep, but instead lived a modest life as a priest in the city of Sigilstar. I lived their for four years: preaching, studying, and doing my best to stay virtuous and help others to do so as well. I knew I could aid in the fight against evil, and I wanted to help to others do so as well. But all of that changed. It seemed the Flame did not wish for me to fight evil in modesty, but instead take a more radical approach to the cleansing. I had lit the fire in my bedroom and sprinkled the silverburn for my evening prayer before I rest, when the flame leaped out and consumed me. I did not burn, the fire washed over me and I felt cooled my it, and then I heard a voice. I knew in my heart that it was the Voice of the Flame, the voice of Tira, and I needed to obey her and take up arms against the evil of the land. She awakened a divine spark that lay dormant within me, rekindled the fires of my soul, and showed me that I could be the instrument of the flame. Shortly after, I requested to change orders and become a Templar of the church. For a year I trained with the Templars, learning to control the power that now surged through me. The clerics and paladins taught me many things about divine magic, but I was never able to use it in their same manner. I learned how to use it in the way the Voice had instructed me. It was now my goal to bring the Wrath of the Flame to agents of evil. My heart grows heavy at the thought of harming others, but I must do as the Flame requested. I now search the world for enemies of good, and bring them to justice with the light of the Flame. I want him to still act as a priest. When he was in the Order of Ministers he was always referred to as Father, and always felt that was his place. But now that he has changed orders, the Templars are referred to as Sir. But that makes him uncomfortable so he insists on being called father. He is pious and tries to convert the masses, and is always reluctant to do battle. But when he is given no other option, he unleashes his fury. I'm still trying to decide exactly how to play him, any tips suggestions or comments/critiques on t he back story? |

"If any of you wish to live lay down your weapons" "I must warn you that once battle starts their will be no mercy" "It would be best for all if you simply surrendered." etc. etc. |

My characters are the ones that usually strike first... like my wizard who dropped an AoE on the boss surrounded by his servants while he was mid monologue... Anywho, I think I'll definitely play good ol' Father Donn as the understanding, studious bookworm type. The one who you just feel like you can talk to. I'm going to see if my dm will let me use a background to add heal to my list. Because I see him as the healer type when he's not in the midst of battle. |

I also am going to have to remind myself and my DM that I never aim to kill humanoids with my powers. That's the other thing that's going to be different... Not shooting to kill. |

Also, whenever you reduce a target to 0 HP, you can opt to knock them out rather than killing them. If your character doesn't want to actually hurt people, they don't have to. They can use divine powers to "rebuke" them, strip them of their will to fight, or render them helpless through the awesome displays of the power of the Flame. |
