| #1elrodianAug 10, 2008 19:51:12 | can any one give me info on these family i have seen there names come up but i do not know how they are and what they have done |
| #2mystrichAug 10, 2008 23:00:19 | The sixty families are, if I remember correctly, the noble families of Breland, or at least Sharn. They hold seats in the Brelish Parliament, and have the ir' prefix. Besides that, anything you want, as the names seems to pile up in random sources, so add ir' to any last name and place them in Sharn if you need a person to hire your party. |
| #3PJammaGodAug 11, 2008 0:25:54 | The sixty families a social club and visible grouping of the sixty most weathly, influential or up-and-coming people within Sharn. The ir'Tain family holds a ball every month and the sixty table within the club represent the various power wielders that have been invited to attend the ball. Once you have been invited (and until that invite is revoked) you are considered amongst the Sixty. Anbody can be invited, from wealthy merchants to bearucrats, adventurers, foreigners from Sarlona, Argonessen and Xen'Drik and even sometimes monsters (such as Medusa and Ogre Magi). The ir'Tain family picks who they think would be best suited to the current Tain Gala. So expect the unexpected, it's power, prestige and maneuvering at it's finest (check page 112 of Sharn: City of Towers if you want to read up more on the Sixty). |
| #4rauricAug 11, 2008 6:45:36 | No names are given that would establish them into EB "lore". I am using one that I made up right now. The PCs crossed his son who was visiting a Daask "Pleasure Palace" in Sharn (think Hostel meets something really, really bad). The PCs, who were mostly evil (an imp, a valenar warlord, a minotaur, goblin, and kobold) were dsigusted by what they found in the place and killed all the guards and "customers". One of those cutomers happened to be a son of a Sixty member. Oi vey. All that leads the PCs into chapter 2 (and 4E) and will introduce them to a new villain as well as the Cult of Tiamat their main enemy. Since they have been framed for the murder of the Prince of Cyre (Mayor of New Cyre) and are hiding out in Stormreach they really will not see the father coming for them or even expect it. Just like the cult wants... |
| #5PJammaGodAug 11, 2008 9:09:37 | I'd disagree with that statement Rauric. On page 112 it states that Councilor Sorik Senso (LE male half-elf) is a member of the sixty and is actually concerend with his families place being supplanted by Councillor Javan Tomollan. On the previous page halfway day Evix ir'Marasha (LN female), representative of Skyway, is another member of the sixty. Examples are given, but it's up to the DM at the end of the day to decide whom is part of the sixty for that given month. |
| #6elrodianAug 11, 2008 9:57:05 | well it looks like i will have to get Sharn: City of Towers becaues i was going to make the Sixty Families my nexts project. Thank you for the help guys. :D :D |

I meant even in the book there is not a ton of detailed info on the group. In my head they are the "elite" of Sharn that do whatever it takes to get ahead and ...well basically they are all ****heads! ;) |
| #8hillianarAug 12, 2008 5:58:34 | Members of the sixty don't necessarily need the ir'- prefix, there are also other non noble but influential / rich / whatever families between them. If i'm not wrong there are only 27 noble families (ir'something) in all Breland. |
| #9minoritarianAug 12, 2008 6:24:35 | Hillianar is right about the sixty not necessarily being noble families. The Boromor clan are part of the sixty and as far as I know they're not ir'Boromor. The ir'Tain family decides who is part of the sixty based upon holding a permanent seat at the gala. The permanent part is important as plenty of people e.g. adventurers, musicians, playwrights and anyone that the rich and powerful might find interesting or distracting can have a one off invitiation to the gala. |
| #10elrodianAug 14, 2008 14:26:09 | well i want to started to working on the five lead families of the and i want to know if there is any info on them and the ir'Tain or is the section in the book say just what they do. I do not have the book so can any one tell me |

When I see Dol Arrah taking a stroll down through Malleon's Gate I'll believe the news that the Sixty are doing something other than lining their pockets :P . |

THey are just another form of villain in the campaign. FOr people that want to play a more political game this is a real bonus. |
| #13aelryinthAug 15, 2008 20:15:36 | 'The Sixty' are actually based on 'The Fifty', the list of people always invited to social events at the Rockefeller Mansion in New York around the turn of the Century. Making it onto 'the Fifty', the matriarch's list of people to invite, was to be the cream of the crop in New York social elite. So, actual identities aside, it's a sign of social prominence, not even wealth, precisely. The Sixty can be whoever you like, and falling out of prominence would be a devastating blow socially. The wealthy stay wealthy by keeping in contact with the wealthy. Getting cut off, or getting admitted to that elite social circle, are events of great import if you are interested in that sort of thing. ===Aelryinth |
| #14neofish7Aug 16, 2008 6:04:11 | well i want to started to working on the five lead families of the and i want to know if there is any info on them and the ir'Tain or is the section in the book say just what they do. They mainly funded the construction of Sharn for starters. But they also owned a ton of track homes, apartments and neighborhoods. Not to mention that they also own a large ammount of tanneries aswell. All that can be found in the SoT book. Though I may be off on the tanneries. |
| #15SiberysAug 17, 2008 16:16:36 | I tried making a list of the sixty - all of the noble family names and any other non-nobles I could find. As you can well imagine, that particular endeavor died out fast. :P |
| #16elrodianAug 17, 2008 21:00:43 | yes i can see how that can happen to you sibery that is why i am going to just do the 5 most powerful in the group |
| #17elrodianAug 19, 2008 14:53:31 | so i have been doing research and i wanted to know if there is any info on lady ir'Tain becaues i can not find any on the web |
