Ahoy, there! My Lyrandar skycaptain, Illyria, has a ship, a crew and everything else BUT a captain's log. Now now, before you keel over[board], I seek to remedy this post haste! Getting one isn't the problem, though. It's how to go about writing it; its format.

I was considering doing it Star Trek style, "Captain's Log: stardate yadda yadda." How should I do this using Eberron terminology? I'll be using a quill of scribing to write down whatever I dictate.

Ideas welcome. BYOR. (guess what the R stands for ) ;)

I'd probably just go

"Ship's Log; Sol, 21st of Dravago:

yadda yadda yadda

Captain [Name]"

Hahaha. I do like the idea of a Quill of Scribing for just that sort of dictation.

Oh man, on another thread I talked about how I want to play an Inquisitive, and now I'm having a mental image of said Inquisitive using a QoS in liu of a tape recorder.

Anyways. The Eberron months and days are on page 20. Is there anything else?

I remember seeing a wondrous item able to record sounds and play it back. That'd be much better than an auto-scribing quill and much more aligned with the Star Trek theme.

I could be wrong and it might be the image projector magic item from Magic of Eberron.

There are Final Messengers, but those are `forged only.

I know. But it is not economical nor practical to have thousands of warforged acting as "portable tape recorders".

I even thought about having a warforged for first mate or ship's doctor (Emergency Medical Homunculus). ;) :P

Heh... that gives me a cool idea for a pair of characters, thanks to Ogiwan. An inquisitive and his Warforged sidekick, like the Watson to his Homes. Except he also functions as a tape-recorder. :D

Not to mention that a Sherlock Holmes movie is due out this winter, with Robert Downy Jr. as the lead, who was Iron Man which is basically a warforged. Funny how things are connected like that. Even more disturbing is Jude Law will be Watson, who was a "warforged" gigolo in Artificial Intelligence AND was the lead in the Sky Captain movie this thread was named for.

Coinkidink? I think not!

Cheerio.

I'd say Mr. Stark is more of a Self-Forged.

Also, there is no such thing as coincidence.
