Then I realized, they specifically call that out in that section for the Soarsleds, but not the Skycoach. Does that mean it works outside of Sharn? That any party with a Dragonmarked Lyrandar memeber and 2000 gold to spare can get a small flying vehicle for themselves? |

I thoguht maybe it was a change for 4th. Fluff wise, they need the manifest zone to work, and that is what I planned on going with, but I was looking to make sure there was no loop hole to exploit. |

In 3E the price of flying objects was based on creating items with a permanent fly spell. In 4E the price of an item is based on its functionality in regards to adventuring. A result is that some of the transportation objects have become much cheaper. I don't have my books at hand, but it wouldn't surprise me if the price is based on the price for a hippogriff. |

I don't have my books near me either, but if only the Soar Sleds are specifically mentioned to work only in Sharn, nothing is stopping from using sky coaches elsewhere. Especially since soar sleds are the result of a specific ritual and sky coaches can just be a miniature version of sky ships. Just have a tiny elemental bound to a nice coach and yes, any PC with the connections and 2000 gold to spare can buy flying transportation. On that count, if you're actually concerned about them getting flying transportation, nothing is preventing you from just stating that sky coaches don't work outside of sharn. You're the DM, if you don't want something reasonable, players will follow. |

(Arrive to the Ball in style!) Similarly, you may want justifications for why the PCs don't bring one with them on adventures (Short circuits a lot of walled ruins for instance) or why criminals aren't hijacking them for nefarious deeds. If you really want to keep them confined to specific areas, you could suggest they're fuelled by an energy field maintained by House Lyrandar/mages in certain city quarters which only covers city quarters where flight is going to be important. (Arcanix and Korth both have floating magical research labs, while Stormhome might want one for maintaining airships in mid-air. And just because they can.) |

(Arrive to the Ball in style!) As far as I can tell, all you need to have Skycoaches is to have a Manfest Zone to Syrania. That would be rare, but that means they could exist elsewhere. The big thing in my mind is that if you don't keep them unique to Sharn, it makes Sharn less memorable. Not that I care much about Sharn, but it's something to keep in mind. |
