What are the PC's race/class that are in the party?

Group One
Elsa Tralkin d'Lyrandar: Khoravar infernal pact warlock. The infernal pact is with the power of the storm; to represent this, we changed any power that did fire damage to lightning.

Lupin Redfang: Longtooth ranger from the Eldeen Reaches.

Khaas Dhakaan: Hobgoblin warlord from the Kech Volaar, exiled for challenging tradition and seeking to become a duur'kala, now on a quest to prove his own right to the restored Dhakaani throne.

Jacob: He's a rogue. His race is something of a mystery, and I'm leaving it there in case any of my players are reading. He's an agent of Kirris Sel Shadra, one of the lords of Stormreach.

Minius the Magnificant, AKA Minius Sel Shadra: Gnome wizard, sent to his aunt in Stormreach to learn the ways of the world.

Group Two
Leific: Valenar ranger. Bound to the path of an archer heroine, but wants to follow the path of the heroic swordsman his father emulated.

Kalor: Dragonborn paladin of the Blood of Vol.

Ishmael d'Medani: Khoravar Star Pact warlock. Drunken sot and adventuring archaeologist with unsettling connections to the Lords of Dust.

Niles: Human wizard; working at Stormreach's fledgling arcane library.

Jule: Changeling cleric of the Silver Flame; having failed to topple a corrupt bishop, he has now gone to Stormreach to try to understand the nature of corruption.

Both campaigns are set in Stormreach - I wonder if this was coincidence or maybe had to do with the 4th Edition conversion (maybe playtest groups??) of City of Stormreach?

Well, personally, I think that in many way Stormreach is a bit more interesting than Sharn. Also, given it's close proximity to the "Wilds" it's a great jumping point for adventure.

Not to mention the DnD MMORPG takes place there, there is a chance that some of the players play it.

Thinking about it, both groups might be either opposed or in contact with the other group, possibly for storyline purposes. I've always wanted to run a multi-group game but never had the group b.

A bunch of reasons, really.

Well, given that I'm one of the authors of City of Stormreach, the city was certainly fresh in my mind. Beyond this, as I hadn't figured out dragonmarks when I started, it helped to be somewhere where the houses had a smaller footprint.

I'll also note that the first 4-5 sessions of each group actually took place in Lamannia, where the adventurers were stranded after their airships passed through an aerial manifest zone.

Did they crash land in Lamannia ? - could be a nice "Lost" adventure hook

Indeed they did... though it took them some time to figure out where they were.

How did they figure it out?

I can't stop imagining the adventuring party on a airship crossing over the Thunder Sea from Sharn trying to reach Stormreach. Then they fly through a stormy manifest zone and crash in Lamannia, but they think they are in the jungles of Xen'drik (or any harsh environment of Xen'dik that also finds its place in Lamannia). That would be a hell of a job to figure out where you are. Unless you encounter specific Lamannia creatures.

Out of curiosity, how did they come back from the plane?

I wonder if anyone told the shifters tribes in Lamannia that the Silver Flame purge is over.

Unless you encounter specific Lamannia creatures.

Such as, for example, a wolf that's two miles long from nose to tail? That was a bit of a tip-off that they weren't in Kansas any more... likewise, the night sky was off. And yes, they did eventually encounter lycanthropes whose ancestors had fled from the Purge. As for getting back, it was a matter of finding the other end of a manifest zone that they could reach from the ground (as the one they'd come from was in the sky) before the coterminous period came to an end.

Wouldn't that result in lots of creatures of Lamania in Eberron?

There was more to using the gateway than just locating it. Under 4E, it was a skill challenge involving Arcana, along with a particular component item - all in all, something your typical animal is going to have trouble with. Beyond that, something like the aforementioned miles-long wolf wouldn't fit through the zone even if it had an interest in it. And beyond THAT, there's the question as to whether what works for creatures of Eberron - the realm that is essentially a touchstone for all planes - works for creatures that are a part of a single plane. The lycanthropes found on the plane, which once came from Eberron, could certainly use the same ritual to get through (if they figured it out and found the necessary components). But the elemental or embodiment of nature - creatures purely of Lamannia - might need to be actively summoned from the other side in order to cross over.
