Sovereign Host = Dolurrh?!

Aug 27, 2008 18:28:08 I was checking out the 'Eberron Cosmology' in the ECS today, and for the first time really looked at the symbols for each plane. That's when I noticed the symbol for Dolurrh is identical to the holy symbol of the Sovereign Host...

Coincidence or Conspiracy? :D

Moreover, the religion is sometimes associated with dragons. Arawai the Bronze, Aureon the Blue, Balinor the Green, etc. It could be a start for our conspiracy.

Aug 27, 2008 22:23:42 I definitly could see Vol being part of the ascension of the Sovereign host and the observation of the Planes. Meaning she could have inserted Doluurh's symbol in the host faith, or put the symbol of the faith on Doluurh, or put her own crest, or wathever meaningful symbol, on both.

After all, she must have done some things during her 2,400 years of undeath.

Aug 28, 2008 4:06:49 ? Because the Sovereign Host is aware and acknowledges the existence of the Plane of Dollurh. As does the Silver Flame and all other religions. They just don't believe it's the final resting place of the soul. It's the penultimate plane and once you fade from there you'll join the Sovereigns in their realm. The BoV says that's trash and you just fade. The SF says you don't join the Sovereigns you join the Flame. Etc.

So anyways no real surprise or conspiracy. I would probably even say if it came up in a game that Sovereign Host priests/followers were the first humans to discover/travel to Dollurh.

According to Faiths of Eberron the Sov Host does not have a strong central church like the SF or BoV or even strong Canon. It's like Christianity before the Pope and Lateran Councils. There could thus be many different symbols used by the Sov Host.

Which makes Dolurrh the gateway to the Host - hence the symbol. ;)

Aug 28, 2008 17:53:51 I've always been partial to how the Kalashtar see Dolurrh; a plane where the ego goes to die so that the soul can be reborn. If the Kalashtar are right (maybe, who knows), the Keeper doesn't just steal souls but takes their ego or "self" as well and possibly preserves it for future use.

Maybe, the blood of Vol is being manipulated by Xoriat, or beings therein. Oh what a tangled web..

Hmm I've always wondered ab00t Dolurrh, it's certainly a jarring realm for someone who's used to Planescape and everyone getting to go where they "should go" (most of the time...). But with Dolurrh we all end up mucking it out in some fugue plane, a bland entropy that slowly scrapes away what makes us, well us.
