I've just returned from this year's Gen Con, which was quite a blast (as usual). I spent more time this year in Artist's Alley than I have previously. While there, I stopped by Steve Prescott's booth. For those unaware, he's one of the artists responsible for the 3.5 Eberron artwork. I had a brief chat with him in which I thanked him for his work on Eberron and, you know what? He mentioned how it's a rarity than anyone comes up to him to talk about Eberron. There were plenty of folks I saw who knew his work on Magic, but he said I was the first to mention Eberron. He said that he really enjoyed working on it and hopes they do more with the setting in the future. He seemed really appreciative of someone recognizing his work on the setting.

So, you know, if you like the artwork from Eberron (as I'm sure so many of us do), and you have a chance to talk to Steve Prescott or Lee Moyer or Andrew Jones or any of the multitude of artists that wroked on it... say something to them. We should take the time to thank those who helped make one of our favorite settings as good as it is!

Dang! I was really busy at Eberron, and I'm sad I didn't bump into Steve. Aside from his published work in the setting, Steve was one of the primary concept artists for Eberron from day one. He's the person who defined the appearance of the warforged and the kalashtar/Inspired, and I feel like he's one of the only people who really gets their fashion style. He used to sell Eberron sketchbooks, which are certainly worth picking up.
