Stolen Campaign Ideas

Sure, we might claim to be "inspired" by things we see on TV or in movies, but lets face it, most of the time we just plain rip 'em off hook line and sinker, and just change some names around. No shame in it. Most of the time its because what we're watching kicks ass, and we want to replicate that ass-kicking-ness. Even better when its a TV show that we can constantly turn to for new adventure ideas when we run dry.

So, lets kick off the plot theft... er I mean brainstorming!

Eberron: The Voyage
A large airship full of passengers encounters a massive storm when a Gate opens before them and pulls the entire ship, crew and all, into the unknown. The ship and it's crew/passengers finds itself on the other side of the world, beyond even Argonessa and Sarlona, near a continent that has never before been seen by any on Khovaire. The most powerful divination magics on board can only give a vague direction in which to travel, and the sense that even at maximum speed, home is decades away. Determined to get home, the airship plots a course and powers it's elemental ring. Perhaps they will find some form of teleportation that can take them home, or new magics to increase their speed, but whatever it takes, they will get home, or die in the attempt.

I'm going to call that one as being Lost in Space, though I don't watch TV much. But either way, I'm not sure what your looking for: One continuous arc made from different movies, or each person to post an arc?

I was thinking more along the lines of Star Trek: Voyager, myself.

Here's one...

The Warforged were created by Man.
They Rebelled.
They Evolved.
They Look
And Feel
Human.
Some were created to think they are Human.
There are many copies.
And they have a Plan.

;)

Sorry, couldn't resist that one

Yeah, its Voyager. LiS were trying to get to Alpha Centauri I think it was, not back to Earth.

I've posted something very much like this before, but...

Sixteen Towers

The Dark Lanterns have a simple task for the PCs: escort the prisoner, a Changeling Rogue named Bunk, from a safe house in Daggerwatch to a courtroom in Highest Towers. What they don't tell the PCs is that Bunk is about to give testimony that will blow the lid off a Boromar-backed corruption ring within the Sharn Watch, and half the city's guards (not to mention a lot of Halfling assassins) want the changeling dead! There are sixteen towers between the safe house and the courtroom, and any one of them could be hiding the next attack! Can the PCs survive the gauntlet without losing their very tricky prisoner?

A similar theme with a broader scope:

ir'Clarn's Narrow Margin

The PCs meet a Cyran woman in Starilaskur who claims that she witnessed Prime Minister ir'Clarn meeting with Prince Oargev and several other Cyran leaders - including her own husband - to discuss the mutual benefits of a civil war in Breland. It's a long lightning rail ride to Wroat with the evidence, though, and there's no telling who might turn out to be a spy or assassin along the way!

And also:

The Lady from Sarlona

The PCs have hired on to the crew of a private airship owned by Sir Bannis ir'Tor, a very wealthy Cyran nobleman, and his exotic, beautiful wife. Also on board is the nobleman's agent in Q'barra, Grisby, who approaches the PCs with a very strange request: he wants them to help him fake his own death and tell no-one, not even his gracious hosts. He won't say why, but he alludes to someone (something?) following him.

The PCs soon find Grisby to be actually murdered, they catch the blame and must defend themselves against the wily political machinations of ir'Tor and determine who actually murdered Grisby and why.

The Cobblestone Jungle

A major jewel heist has just taken place in Fairhaven, and the PCs are brought in to chase down the crooks. One by one, the crooks are brought in as each one eventually turns on the others or makes a fatal mistake... but will they catch all five before the mastermind "Doc" Tordannon escapes to the Mror Holds?

Not so much a campaign, but definitely a fun adventure: Smokin' Aces. In Sharn. It practically writes itself.
