so, i'm playing a brewer, and i'm determined to make the best beers ever made. that means i need to adapt to my cutomer base at times. so, i need suggestions on what you as players beleive Warforged and Deathless would like to taste in their beer.

Deathless would probably like something with a tang of positive energy.

Was there a Power Component in the 3.5 ECS that aided in the casting of healing/positive energy spells?

(You could also draw on them for other ideas.)

I'm not sure about the taste, but you might also consider another aspect of drinking beer; inebriation. I think I recall back in the day that Hellcow was of the opinion that warforged wouldn't get drunk normally, but that it might be possible to craft a potion that had similar inebriating effects.

As I recall, this was based on the 3.5 warforged's list of immunities (which they no longer have in 4E) and the idea that alcohol was essentially a poison, but you could probably keep the idea even if you're in 4th Edition. A beer with some sort of alchemical or arcane component that very lightly fuzzes up the magic binding the warforged together could have the desired effect. Maybe a pinch of crushed Khyber shard, just enough to absorb and bind a little of the 'forged's arcane energy for a short period of time?

Actually, I kind of think that Warforged who have a taste for beer would probably like the same beer that human soldiers from their adopted country like. I totally see a love of alcohol being a learned trait for Warforged, so they would favor whatever their flesh and blood companions first introduced them to.

As for Deathless, seeing as most of them in Eberron are Elves, I expect they'd favor Lambic Ale. As a particularly D&D concept, stepping back to older editions (I don't remember seeing a 4e version of the spell yet), Druids could use the spell Goodberry to enchant berries with healing powers. In addition, the berries could be used to make wine, which carried the same healing power. Therefore, a brewmaster could certainly make a Goodberry Lambic which had all the flavor and body of a lambic ale and all the healing power of Goodberries.

I've often wondered what interesting grains could exist in fantasy settings.

Tiwaz has a point, one of my players played an Aundairian warforged who 'adopted' the personality and manerisms of his commanding officer, when the officer died and he had to assume command. One of his trademark mannerisms was in any social situation walking around with a glass of wine (which in our games at least he couldn't actually drink but he would always get himself a glass of wine.)
