I cannot find a single thing on this group save for the single paragraph in which they are mentioned in the Breland section of ECG. If anyone knows where I can find more info on this group it would be most appreciated. I wanted to have it where one of the PC's father's was involved, before things took a turn for the worse.

In the 3.5 Splat Book- "Five Nations" there's a few paragraph write up on them.

Essentially they are "Freedom Fighters", the Brelish version of the Emerald Claw. They want to abolish the Monarchy, set up a democracy, and restart the last war because they feel Breland will come out on top.

They attract "idealists and zealots"- so not every member is necessarily a raving lunatic; but the leadership is extremely dedicated to the cause. They sabotage, ambush, assassinate, and extort to further their goals. So it sounds like the characters father would be just fine: a fallen hero or a martyr to the cause (or a forced martyr).

They have a secret leader

They are controlled by Dastinu, a fiend with ties to the Lords of Dust.Though i might not actually use that little piece of information: i feel it cheapens what could be an interesting set of ideological villains.

If you'd like some non-canon stuff, I half-wrote a post long ago about the Swords of Liberty. The idea was to make the current Swords of Liberty a real terrorist organization, not a steered astray legitimate organization. That said, when I used them, I found the steered astray a better fit for the ongoing campaign, because it gave a higher level advesary.

Anywhere, it's located here. Hopefully, it's not been archive-trashed.

If you're interested, I'll see if I can find my local notes. Let me know here or via PM.

I thought that I may have some luck with a 3.x book for this, I'll see if I can find it at half-price books or something. Thank you both for your help, I already understand the group more now.

Threadcromancy!

I'm running a campaign, and in it, the Swords of Liberty are claiming responsibility for the death of a high-ranking agent of the King's Citadel at the ir'Tain gala at the start of 998 YK. I just finished a broadsheet, and its a good amount of bombastic propaganda. Text reads as follows:

PEOPLE OF BRELAND, HEAR US!

We, the Swords of Liberty who fight in the name of YOUR freedom, announce the death of a Royalist lackey who oppressed the innocent citizens of our fair country!

JODREK ir'Clairyn, of the King's Citadel

met his end screaming and weeping like one of the commoners he so regularly derided at the Tain Gala on Far, 6 Zarantyr, 998 YK!

His death was a sanctioned operation by the Swords of Liberty, with the aim of removing one of the MANY parasites in our "government" who rob the people of their hard-earned wages, deny them their freedoms, and, by the nature of an accident of birth, hold themselves above the teeming masses whose hard labors are responsible for the wealth, success, and station of those who feed off of the common citizen.

His death proves that the nobility is, in fact, no more or less noble than the "commoners."  It also shows that those who sit at the pinnacle of society are unable to solve any problem that cannot be bought, either by money or by legal action.  Truly, if a class cannot extend the basic protection expected of a host, how can they possibly interact with anyone on an equitable level?

Why, fellow Brelanders, do we allow these incompetent nobles to guide our country?

Why do we allow them to leech our wealth and happiness?

Why should we not cast them down?

The death of this vile oppressor opens a crack in the wall protecting those of privilege! Join us in opening that fissure, so prosperity and equality will flow to all in Breland, and in Khorvaire!

I like it! One thing you may want to consider changing though is the senctence

"[he] died screaming and weeping like one of the commoners..."

I understand that the message the Swords want to get across is that nobles are just as mortal as commonners, but the implication that commoners die screaming and weeping doesn't quite jive with the message of the rest of the pamphlet, which is setting commoners up as the true heroes.
