Not exactly what I would call a democracy... Based on the map given in ECS (and copied in all the other books with no additions or subtractions), I have come up with the elected members of the Brelish Parliament. The Commons Chamber: (18 Members) 3 from Sharn (Metropolis) 3 from Wroat (Metropolis) 2 from Starilaskur (Large City) 2 from Xandrar (Small City) 1 from Cragwar (Large Town) 1 from Galethspyre (Large Town) 1 from Vathirond (Large Town) 1 from Ardev (Small Town) 1 from Moonwatch (Small Town) 1 from Shavalant (Village) 1 from Woodhelm (Village) 1 from Zilspar (Village) Personally, if I were going for Democratic, I'd appoint one representative per a set amount of people. Granted, Sharn would quickly become the political and economic center of Breland... but that's the price you pay for Democracy. The way ir'Clarn is probably going to empower his voters is to double the number of elected representatives. It's what I would do if I wanted to avoid out and out democracy. How do you represent "democracy" in your Breland? Do you use either of my methods? Or do you let the common people keep thinking that they actually get a say in ruling their country... after all, what's keeping a noble family from holding an elected seat? ir'Clarn for Prime Minister!! |
