I just got around to running this (I know, been out a while, but I have played it before), and the PCs captured Saber and turned him over to Elaydren, which is throwing me for a bit of a loop.

Now I just had her take him and thank the party. I have yet to read all the later modules, which I do plan on running, but I was going to assume that Saber would later be rescued by the LoBster and wouldn't really make an impact later in the adventure path. Is this a wrong assumption? Should I bother thinking about it anymore? Should I intergrate him at a later date?

Saber does pop back up. But, if your party has killed/captured him the adventure path gives you other soldiers of the great LoBster to put annoyingly in the their way.

Personally I think making him a recurring villain would be a incredible cool thing to do. Gives the players something to butt their heads against on a regular basis.

Turn him over, move on. Then, when he pops back up later, and the characters ask, have him spout a line about "Weak little fleshlings cannot hold me!". So yeah, they caught him, turned him over, and he escaped. No biggy, happens to villains all the time.

But be careful this doesn't lead to your players giving up on capturing people. To many bad guys escaping from prison leads to executions.

Give Saber a get out of jail free card and then generate a rumor that a high-ranking warforged in Sharn is in league with the Lord of Blades.

Or perhaps the one pulling Saber's strings is Merrix himself in order to keep the party's collective focus on retrieving the schema, or relieving the schema from their persons for free rather than paying the party for their services?

"high-ranking warforged"

... hehe! :P Of course, anything is possible.

I would certainly use Saber as a recurring villian, which works well into the storyline of the Schema path modules anyway. There's probably a hundred explainations you can use.

There are indeed warforged in positions of prominance such as Three, the bodyguard of the King of Breland.

Casting doubt on the honest intentions of loyal warforged (possibly including the warforged controlled by a player) and adding to the anti-warforged sentiment is exactly why I suggested what I did.

Which leads to alignment shifts.
