| #1saramisApr 07, 2009 23:26:29 | Hey guys. In my game I'm going to have a tsunami crash into the cliffside of Sharn (not into the towers themselves), and I'm trying to brainstorm consequences. So far here's what I've come up with: A couple of Towers fall from the impact. The cogs are damaged severely along with cliffside buildings and docks. A giant squid is pushed into the waters near the docks, and decides to stay there.. Any other ideas? Critisms of these? |

This way you have the horrific loss of life and property as well as a piece of a grand landmark. Makes the whole scenario feel more real. And yes, Cliffside and the docks would be severely damaged, if not completely gone. |

OMG that gives me a fun plot to work through. It may work better with Stormreach though. |

| #8PJammaGodApr 08, 2009 22:58:12 | Lots of cold water + extremely hot metal (ie the entire foundry area of the Ashblack, Khyber's Gate and Blackbones) = ridiculously big explosion. You'll likely find much of the cogs has been completely decimated not just by the presumed flooding but by the explosions of such much hot metal coming into contact with water. This will likely weaken the already rabbit-warren underlying support structures of Sharn. The foundations are going to weaken, which will probably lead to mutiple tower collapses and a very angry underclass. Yes the rich are just find up in clouds. But when they've got 100,000 angry peasants bearing down upon them no amount of Sharn Watch or elite Blackened Book is going to stop them... ... I love this idea, have fun inflicting hell upon your players :D . |

| #10tallric_kruushApr 14, 2009 13:59:46 | This is kind of tough, unless you're fine with changing the face of Sharn permanently. It would take one hell of a tsunami to get by Shargon's Teeth and all the way up the Dagger River, past the Hilt, to Sharn's cliffs. I'd think to make this believable, it will almost have to be catastrophic (see PJammaGod's exploding/collapsing scenario). The swath of destruction from a tsunami like this would be devastating, encompassing far more than Sharn. This is the type of thing that could topple Sharn, or at least parts of it, and change the city forever. This could be fun and memorable to play, but I never like to change the setting in a permanent way, myself. There's no believable way of restoring status-quo. Similar to the ubiquitous "We restore Cyre" campaigns, this may change the setting more than you'd like. Then again, maybe my players and I overthink things, and your guys won't ask questions like "why didn't the city fall?", "how the hell did a tsunami hit this far upriver?", or whatnot. I do like the idea; just think it through carefully before implementation. |
