so I finally got around to reading Keith's "Shattered Land" (lots of fun, by the way), and I remember reading the part about how the protagonists are ambushed in Stormreach by undead agents of Riedra. i didn't remember anything like that, so i went back to the Secrets of Sarlona, and I found a passage under the Edgewalkers section about their "Inspired leader, Kaltaresh (in a long-dead vessel)." is Riedra reviving Inspired? keeping them alive by artificial means making them technically undead? am I completely misreading this? or is it some sort of mixup?

Undead? I do not recall any undead...Anyway, it should be noted that a Quori can choose another vessel. It's not undeath-it's just a case of a Quori walking again on Eberron in a new vessel body.

Hmm... not sure why you thought they were undead. They were just Riedrans... using psionic techniques, but alive nonetheless.  I'm glad you liked it, though.

You are in fact misreading this. Kaltaresh is effectively immortal because when a host body dies, he takes over a new one. Thus, he has been the leader of the Edgewalkers for a very long time, but the vessel he inhabited when he founded the order has been dead for centuries (and still is).
