We were called upon by the neighboring countries to lead an attack against them (*Epic battle ensued!*) and we defeated his army. Now another 5 or so years pass and... There are rumors of undead warforged possessing spellcasters who wander to close to the area of the epic battle. The casters spread chaos, fireballing libraries, stealing artifacts and killing innocents in the streets. etc. The goal of the warforged spirits is to find any information on how to bring back the Lord of Blades and raising his army back to full strength to continue his war on the world while leaving destruction in their wake. 1st question: Are warforged undead at least remotely plausible? 2nd question: Does the plot sound descent? |

But, it is debatable whether or not warforged have souls, so you could, under DM privledge, make warforged spirits/ghosts I suppose. 2nd Answer: The plot does sound very interesting, assuming your making warforged ghosts with the malevolence ability. |

Not truely undead, but you will have dead warforged getting up and moving around without sentience. Construct zombie wanna-bes, and best of all, they're immune to turning attempts. Lets see the clerics wrap their heads around that one! |

Just use the possession rules found in the campaign setting (cant remember page# now). Just ad some descriptions about how they are rusty, have no light in their eyes etc and you are good to go. They are not Undeads, but they're still freaky as can be. |

| #6drewcifer9984May 27, 2008 16:12:02 | I like the idea of the warforged bodies being animated or possessed by spirits or demons. I just might use something like that. Especially the fact that they couldn't be turned if their just animated but you wouldn't be able to tell from their appearance, lol! Thanks a lot for your help so far everyone! |
| #7mystrichMay 27, 2008 20:43:51 | I remember asking the same thing a long time ago (lost that account in the move to Gleemax + year or two that I forgot account info). Someone has a Warforged Undead that's basically an animated corpse of a rusted broke Warforged. |
| #8drewcifer9984May 27, 2008 22:42:40 | Could they be animated through "Animate Dead" or does it have to be "Animate Objects" or even both? Then the Animate Warforged could be made permanent which would be sweet. Would they just be like a cohort then more or less? |
| #9ornitoMay 27, 2008 23:40:13 | How about if instead of actual undead warforged they're newly created warforged using whatever's left from this battle. Though probably with the humanoid corpses animated first, then parts of them taken and used to fill in the missing pieces of the warforged bodies. Through in some assistance from the Blood of Vol, Emerald Claw, Dragon Below, or any other evil organization and you're looking at the magical backing to support such a thing. I wouldn't hesitate to try and add some skeleton or zombie bonuses and penalties to a warforged. I mean thinking about it is there any real advantage to an undead warforged versus an undead humanoid? I'd certainly change their type from living construct to undead and I'd probably take a good long look at any intelligent undead warforged I used. I think they'd tend more towards corporeal undead than uncorporeal. The idea of a warforged ghost seems a bit weird to me, whereas corporeal mindless undead doesn't feel like to much of a stretch. I think it would be a pretty interesting story to tell. I'd probably have a lot of the story hinge on some of the undead regaining memories of their lives as forged and perhaps becoming independent. I'd play it as being that they weren't living beings the way that most undead are and they were more or less vessels with the capability for intelligence and self awareness that just required some kind of power. While living that would be the various mystical components of their bodies and the infusion of arcane power in a creation forge. In undeath it would be necromantic energy powering those components and making them run, with varying degrees of success. |

| #11grafsterMay 28, 2008 3:08:15 | I'm playing in a game with an undead warforged PC, basis partially Woeforged and partially that the player could come up with a cool concept. |
| #12skrap-sanMay 28, 2008 13:21:08 | too me the simplest thing rules wise would be to slap on the skeleton template conjure up a bit of fluff and describe the warforged as missing pieces of armour and yadi yadi and you are good to go. I should say I tend to follow the "keep it simple, stupid!" rule before anything else. Now what the fluff should be, that is a different and much more interesting question all together. I like the Woeforged and the Karrnathi necromancers, but it feels a bit cheap so to speak. Would be fun with a few new people on the UD scene, not trusted old Karrnath and the Emerald claw... |
