The elves of Aerenal including the Valenar tend to be conservative and Ancestor focused, while the elves of Khorvaire tend to be progressive and freely intermingle with the other races. |

Heirs Elro, heirs. :P Anyway, the Valenar warhorses are supposed to be the absolute best on the continent, bar none. Vadalis desperately wants some to work into their own breeding stock, but the Valenar won't part with any of them. I would assume that a few... overzealous Vadalis members at one point attempted to steal some of the horses, and as a result the Valenar cut them off entirely. |

| #5mystrichMay 24, 2008 20:55:22 | Heirs Elro, heirs. :P Also remember that the druids dislike Magebred horses, and they comprise a large part of Valenar's breeders. Also, Valenar don't just exclude Vandalis, they're a very self sufficient group, who are also very war-crazy. They lead raids on Talenta and Karrnath just because, and as stated above, feel that they are connecting to their ancestors, unlike others who want to continue moving on and forgetting about the past (especially Khorvairian elves). |
| #6EdymnionMay 25, 2008 14:21:46 | I wouldn't say the Valenar have mage-bred horses. Mage-bred is specifically the results of House Vadalis, you can't get them anywhere but from them (and I would assume they neuter any animals they sell). The Valenar have horses that you could likely use mage-bred stats to represent, but they would not be mage-bred in game. |
| #7Alter_BoyMay 25, 2008 19:06:44 | Keep in mind that the Valenar consider the spirits of their ancestors to inhabit their finest warhorses (mentioned in Secrets of Xen'drik). So, I imagine they find it sacrilege that Vadalis wants to have their ancestors copulate with ordinary animals. |
| #8mystrichMay 25, 2008 22:49:36 | I wouldn't say the Valenar have mage-bred horses. I think you're mixing up your V's. Valenar don't have mage-bred is what both of us said. The Valenar have horses that you could likely use mage-bred stats to represent, but they would not be mage-bred in game. Valenar horses are statted as superior to mage-bred horses, and the Valenar have never revealed their secret or allowed the creation of a mage-bred Valenar Horse. |
