Maybe someone can help me with this question. I am currently making a Warforge and am wondering if they can take Heritage Feats suck at Draconic Heritage and Illithid Heritage. Can someone help me on this topic?

You can take them; just...good luck explaining them to your DM!

Always remember the first rule with 'forged;
Unless it specifically says otherwise in their racial stats description, treat them like you would any other PC race

Considering that Illithids do not procreate in mammalian fashion, humans with Illithid heritage are impossible by strict reading. If the heritage feats denote something else than literal ancestry - such as mystical influences, experiments, etc - they work fine, for warforged and regular mortals, at least IMC.

As a DM, I'd just require you to come up with a good explanation. Provided you come up with one, I would not hold you to literally having a dragon in the family tree. I'd insist that such a character would be very special, even unique, and will attract a lot of attention if his 'heritage' is apparent - a warforged with 'dragon heritage' feats would attract the eye of the Chamber, the Eyes of Chronepsis, and the Light of Siberys.

well specifically a Pisforge could have blood of an illithid in his system for the purpose increasing his psionic powers. and a warforge sorcerer would be created with the blood of a dragon to increase his spell casting ability. these could also be the work of the guy under stormreach experimenting with warforge technology.

You could say a Dragon/Illithid oversaw the process or did create you and that ended up influencing the process.

Also, which books are Illithid Heritage from?

complete psionics

And because of the source, it should be considered highly dubious.

Complete Psionic is one of the worst 3.5 books, if not the worst. It's full of stupid rules (like the Illithid Heritage stuff), unnecessary nerfs and weak classes.

I'm not sure I would qualify it as the worst book of 3rd Edition (I'm not very keen on many elements of the Book of Exalted Deeds and the Book of Vile Darkness, either, though I enjoy some of the rules), but it is a contender. Not so bad as to be utterly useless, and I do like some of the stuff - even the Storm Disciple that has received much criticism, though I agree that I fail to see what it has to do with psionics, and that they could really have done more with it - but it was pretty much a disappointment.

The best expressed and most frequent concerns you can find here, especially the third post (by Lycanthromancer). He explains a lot of reasons why Complete Psionics was received very badly by many in the community. I don't "hate" the book, but I have to agree with his points.

Ignore the 'heritage' portion of these feats. A warforged with some "Draconic Heritage" feats is a sorcerer emulating earthly dragons to become closer to the cosmic (same for those with levels in dragon disciple or dragonheart mage).

Celestial, fey, illithid, and infernal heritage feats could be applied to anyone who has had a past or extensive dealings with those types of creatures or their plane of origin. I'd recommend using the various half-templates for those who are truly half-breeds (the Half-Fey and Half-Illithid templates are in the Fiend Folio).

Oh no no no, that is reserved for Races of Destiny, lest we forget it's unspeakable suckitude.

Really? I didn't think it so bad. More like bland and boring. And too focused on cities.

RoD is pure gold compared to the TRUE worst 3.5 book. Races of Eberron.
Go go gadget direct conflict with primary source material!

That aside, at some point in the past we had a discussion about this here. The general assumption is, Nobody REALLY know what the heck even goes into a warforged outside of the overseers at the forgeholds (those that survived the war).

Also, there seem to have been an Aweful Lot of experimental warforged created. I.E. all the warforged in Keith's Dreaming Dark trilogy...

So, easy answer, as an experiment (possibly to boost a warforgeds magical abilities) Dragon's blood was added to the materials used to create this specific warforged. Thus, he has blood of dragons in him, and can take the Draconic Heritage Feat.

You could make Dragonforged or Alienforged to compensate for lack of heritage feats, though you're expecting an LA for character option.

That's what is so awesome with warforged : they are made of all kind of material. The origin of this material can be anything: metal from mechanus, the living tissue of a dragon, wood from the trees of mount olympus, stone from earth elemental plane, etc. Even better, the magical process that forges the warforged had the unforseen effect of giving them sentience, adding to the unpredictability of the creation. Everything is possible with warforged (well, within mostly regular PC limits).

So a warforged could have a template, if it does not exclude construct from the list of possible type. Even so, since the warforged are living, the players and DM can certainly work something out for some template (for example half-dragon). And you can also take heritage feat. Finding the explanation as to why is not that hard and is up to you (or your DM if he wants). Disallowing and thinking of a reason why (other than I don't want to) take as much effort as allowing it and thinking of an explanation. I think Warforged having heritage feats contribute to the richness of Eberron.

How about a warforged heritage feat that allow it to produce device ala inspector gadget?
