Ok, I've read this over in the ECS a few times now (i'm new to Eberron not DnD) and for the warforged race. If i'm reading this correctly the ONLY way they can heal is either through spells/magic items (potions etc), or through a successful 'craft' check w/the proper skill (i.e. armorsmith).
Am I correct in that they have no 'natural' way of healing by resting as the flesh and blood pc's do?

As i've told a player that his warforged fighter doesn't heal like the rest of us and I want to be 100% sure that i told him correctly.
Thank you.

You are correct. Warforged do not heal over time.

Note that spells with the healing subtype are only half as effective on them as they would normally be. That includes potions and other magical items that make use spells with the subtype.

Potions and items duplicating the effects of repair spells are often used by warforged adventurers.

it should also be noted that a warforged need not sleep, can perform the craft skill to repair themself, and that the check conveniently requires 8 hours.

So while the rest of his party is checked into an inn, your warforged fighter is downstairs at a table with his tools laid out. The party wakes up and comes down to the warforged packing his tools up, possibly having restored more hp than they did from a night's rest.

So what would a Warforge need to roll to repair itself? What are the DC for damages?

Its in the Warforged racial entry.

Also, it needs to be reminded that WF not healing normally applies only to normal hitpoint damage. They recover from nonlethal and ability damage at the same rate as everybody else.

Another thing to keep in mind is some of the feats you can take as well, they can have an effect on how you get healed.

There are a couple of feats that make Warforged immune to certain types of damage but also make you immune to certain types of healing as well. If memory serves they're both in Races of Eberron (don't worry it's not background at all) and they'll tell you how things change in the description.

RoE added a couple, but there is one in the ECS as well.
