| #1demonjimApr 06, 2008 11:54:13 | My Warforged has craft skill blacksmithing and i wold like to make some things for it that are not in the books and would like some opinions and ideas on the rules on them. Crossbow dagger attachment: this would be a metal clip device on the front of my crossbow that allowed a dagger to be attached to it. a bayonet essentially. i was going for the basic 1d4 but with str&1/2 as it would be two handed. prehaps a -1 penalty for unwieldinesses. Ever-burning flame bullseye lantern:Like the bullseye lantern with a detachable rod that has everburning flame cast on it. the range would be a reduced cone(going from the light table in the php) 0-40ft clear 40-80ft shadowy. And a bit on the back that allows it to clip on to belts/ bandoleers (for hands free) Hand-pump flamethrower. This is a bit exotic I know but I love the idea. it's is taken from the Ancient Chinese flames thrower "Pen Huo Qi" it works by piston pump(like a football pump) but with two tubes one on the front of course and one on back that twisted round next to front one. This meant the spray on oil was continuous when you where pushing and pulling the pump handle. I was thinking the rules could be as a non magical lvl 1 burning hands |

Complete Scoundrel, p.109 has a Crossbow Bayonet. Unfortunately, I don't think I can give you more details due to copyright. And a bit on the back that allows it to clip on to belts/ bandoleers (for hands free) This sounds fine. You might want to compare this to the Watch Lamp (Sharn, City of Towers, p.171), a headband that lets you summon a globe of light. It's free-handed - but you may prefer the look of a bullseye lantern and your item makes a lot of sense in Eberron. Hand-pump flamethrower. Dragon Magazine 334, back in August 2005, had an article on Fires of Alchemy, including siphons, but even the small one is mounted on a cart and comes at 200 lb. For the portable one, I'd consider using it with alchemist's fire, although that will eventually become expensive, rather than non-magical burning hands. You could even vary it and fill it with acidic fire, holy water and so forth when needed. |

A flamethrower would definately be a weaponsmithing check, and a pretty high one. That said, even if you could build one with a blacksmithing check, such a thing does not yet exist, so you would have to invent and design one. How many ranks does your character have in Knowledge (Engineering) in order to design such a complicated system? |
| #4demonjimApr 07, 2008 15:58:20 | there is such a device in the d&d The Arms and Equipment Guide, the sprayer; so that could be converted with a double tube system for contentious flow and a pitch burner at the nozzle for ignition. Of course I could just say screw it and buy scrolls of burning hands |
| #5abrahamApr 24, 2008 17:03:16 | How about a freddy cruger style gauntalent that gave the warforger wearer a slashing damage to it's slam? or a internal component that gave it various energy damage to it's slam attack? |
| #6EdymnionApr 24, 2008 19:35:17 | How about a freddy cruger style gauntalent that gave the warforger wearer a slashing damage to it's slam? Any weapon can be made into an attached weapon. The armblade is just an attached bastard sword (which is why it requires an EWP to weild properly, you're weilding a 1h bastard sword). So, take the Bladed Gauntlet or the Tiger's Claws weapons, make 'em +1, and call them an attached weapon. ![]() |
