Okay my FLGS have a 1 book free after 10 books buy and now Im at choosing this one book.

Im currently planning a 4e game of Eberron, and now that I learn about the "3 books and it s done" format, 3.5 books became more valuable and I think to get one of those.

So those that I already own:

-Dragonmark
-5 nations
-Stormreach
-Eberron adventurer guide
-Sharn

The only one that I will probably not buy is the campaign setting and the players guide, since they will come back in 4e. And of course Dragon of Eberron since dragon are just that powerful that there is no point to put them in a campaign without having a TPK.

So here those that interest me from the little I know about them:

-Xendrik: always cool to have a DM playground and it would complement stormreach
-Explorer Guide: Im big on travel and exploration so it could be the occassion
-The last war: My current plot involve heavily the shadows of the last war so it could be interesting.

So any though, or any book that I would have forget that would be interesting?

The Last War would be valuable, since it's mainly fluff.

Also, Dragons of Eberron will reportedly be converted to 4th Edition at some point, so it might be a worthwhile investment. It, also, is full of fluff and talks about Argonessen to levels no other book does.

I'd spring for the Explorer's Guide. It has great information as to travel times, cost, and methods of transportation around Eberron. This information should be relatively easy to transfer into 4th edition.

I like the Xendrik book as an idea for campaigns, but I did not find anything that I felt I'd be missing if I didn't purchase it.

While combat with the dragons would end with TPK, they are very much at work in the Eberron world behind the scenes. Its a rare thing to fight a dragon in Eberron, but it wouldn't be so rare to have a dragon manipulating, say, a dragonmarked house.

I really like the Magic of Eberron book, but if you're set on switching to 4th edition I'd hold off.

I'm not sold on the 3-and-its-done format. If the books sell, they will release them. I just wouldn't expect a complete reprint of every Eberron book.

Actually, I would suggest Secrets of Xen'Drik over Stormreach. SoX already includes a good deal of info on the city of Stormreach, and unless you plan on doing a big city campaign just in Stormreach (in which case, I'd suggest Sharn instead, for obvious reasons) you're going to be wanting to head out into Xen'Drik more than sitting around in town.

Forge of War I honestly wouldn't recommend. It basically reads like a text book, giving you names and dates and the like, but its pretty skimpy in things I would call actual campaign building tools. Its good for getting an idea of the state of most of the countries during the war (it absolutely slanders Thrane through), but for your game playing dollar, there's not a whole lot there to help in your day to day play.

Explorer's Guide is one that I find the most useless, but my reason for not liking it may be the very thing that makes you want it. Its almost entirely pre-made adventure locations, even laid out in such a way that you have "beginning of the adventure" locations, "middle of the adventure" locations, and "end of the adventure" locations. I personally like to make my own locations, so a lot of this material was wasted on me, but if you like that sort of thing, you'll get a lot of use out of this one.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend any of the three. Instead, I would recommend Faiths of Eberron.

My suggestion is Secrets of Xen'drik, then stormreach and then explorer's.

Hi all,

First just to point it, I made a typo, I was talking about a FLGS and not a GLGS.

Second, I already own Stormreach and I doubt that my FLGS owner will want me to trade it for another book.

Now, just some questions:

-Dragon of Eberron is an Eberron like Draconomicon or actually an Aragonese gazetteer more or less like the five nations??

-Faith of Eberron is really useful? not something like the faith and pantheon of FR that will bog down my game world in senseless religion war?? (done it enough in FR, want a change of pace and something more about personnal and/or group interest rather than about ideological fight.)

are any of your players clerics? if not dont bother with FE, I'd go with SoX, then Explorer's then

No biological info on Eberron dragons, and only 1/4 of it is dedicated to Argonessen. But oh boy, what a 1/4! Overall, it's how dragons fit into the social geography of the world. Draconic organizations, top ten Rogue Dragons on each continent, crunch and fluff on making Draconic infiitrators, and more. My only beef is that there's no kobold homeland in Argonnessen.
