#1 elrodian May 09, 2008 16:30:54	I have been think about this for a long time. The Elves in Eberron are like the Egyptians on Earth. Both have foces on death Both know how to mummife (i do not think i spell that right) Both keep great records And for pictures from the City of Blood has alot of this that look like they are form Egypt. So what do you guys think are they like the Egytians or some other different people.
#2 grifo May 10, 2008 8:20:55	Personally I wouldn't compare any Earth culture to an Eberron culture. Sure, there are some similarities but I think it's wrong to make the comparison. My biggest objection is this: By trying to create a direct link between two cultures you in fact reduce them into a few simple traits. This to me takes a lot from the culture's uniqueness. A part of why I love Eberron is the fact that its cultures aren't just copies of real life ones. It's the fact that they are unique which makes them so interesting. Don't get me wrong, I like calling Karrns Nazis just like the next guy, but I alsso try to give them their own traits, something to make them special (Personally I give them a very dark sense of humor: Nothing says you're a Karrn better then being caught laughing at a hanging).

#4 elrodian May 10, 2008 9:27:48	I have found that I real like finding links between things and i just but up what i think was alike between the two. I like the Eberron Elven culture. It is much different then the normal, I love trees and undead are evil, elves. (I know the Eberron elves hate undead but they have deadless so but most Elves hate undead all to gether.) I do like it how they are different and it is hard to compare with a direct link but like you said there is simple and that is what i was pointing out. I was try to get people opinions on the Elves or other races (which you did give :D :D :D.) Your welcome

While it does produce stereotypes in their heads, stereotypes are what most people think about countries they haven't visited. Some of the ones I use: Karrnath -> Russia Aundair -> France Breland -> Great Britain Thrane - Spain/Vatican

Some areas of Thrane continue to worship the Sovereign Host while others are totally for the Silver Flame. Leads to a nice 30-Years-War tension.

#8 elrodian May 18, 2008 8:04:09	mosaic i think you are so right and i love the link (i want to get a history degree) Now Saxaholic you could have the leader of the Thrane Kinghts do what you want becues he in love with the Queen and i think if that love keeps geting deeper he will see thing in the Church that he does not like. You can have it that Diani herself does it becues she think that the Chruch as it part to play in the nations but she believes that she should rule.

I do not mean to offend, I just mean to say the story of getting screwed is very similar. Native Americans (especially Mexican)= Goblinoids Aztecs = Dhaakan Both ruled the continent first. Both got dethroned by men from over the eastern sea. (At a weak point in their history) Both were briefly enslaved then freed, but still remain mostly second class citizens. Both concentrate in cities (city goblinoids) but rarely rise to positions of wealth or influence. Both face a criminal stereotype. Weird coincidences.
