This is sort of a creative exercise. I had this idea from reading a comment over at Keith's HDWT blog and from watching Fringe. What if Eberron's history were different? Let's say someone traveled back in time and stepped on some butterflies. What would change in the present (or the future)? What dominos fall? For instance, the example Shadow Whispers brought up in the comment: What if the line of Vol survived into present times and had a House monopoly like the others? Perhaps they would provide funerary services and mediums. For me, taking it a bit further, maybe for the extremely rich, they will turn them into undead (an underground illegal movement, perhaps, that results in certain undead having rights in the remaining nations). Or maybe they can create armies of undead that rival the Warforged mercenaries during the Last War and aren't limited to the elite soldiers of Karrnath. Things like that. Maybe you've done something like this in your campaign, or one you've played in. Maybe this will give you ideas for a campaign you're running right now! Or maybe you're just having some fun. Whatever the reason, let's brainstorm! Some of these certainly could become lengthy. Their own individual threads could be useful, and if you do start an individual thread about it, reply here with a link for others.
