What i want to know is what yolu guys think Aurala was doing when she married Sasik d'Vadalis. Was it love or is she try to use him as a link with house Vadalis and use the house as a spy for here in the Eldeen Reachers or is there a bigger plan in it all. She might want a line is the mark of handling in order to have a leader that can distory mounted units or get a member of her family that has the mark and send him and a unit of the Royal Eye in to flamekeep to kill the Keep and use her pet to do it and with no one there to see it the blame falls on house Vadalis so the war does not starte but Aundair could move in on some of the Thrane's land as the nations goes up in flames as they try to find a new keep and Diani is trying to get her throne back and it could be that Diani and Aurala plan this together.

I think she's canny enough to see the Edicts of Korth were a treaty with Galifar and right now its only tradition keeping the Houses in line. Medani is cozy with Boranal in Breland, Lyrander is practically running day to day Valenar, the shadow houses have splintered, Cannith is on the verge of a bigger split. The houses are flexing their independance. They've begun to aquire land (Lyrander in Valenar, Kundarak in Stormreach), she can see where the trends are headed.

When the war restarts... and make no mistake in her mind the war will restart, its inevitable. There is nothing to hold the Dragonmarked Houses to their old neutrality, oh that doesn't mean Ghallanda is going lash out at Karrnath or anything... but as the Korth edicts start to unravel, as the houses aquire land, as they start to violate the treaty in other ways (aquiring titles, keeping illegal creation forges)... there's no telling what their role will be in the Next War.

Deinith is an army, Cannith can build an army, Vadalis can breed an army. Which one of these has the strongest ties to Aundair? Vadalis. She just needs to give them an extra push and when the Next War comes, as she's sure it will, her soldiers will ride astride Magebred Dragonhawks, and swarms of Horrid Hummingbirds (Vadalis made these during the War of the Mark, fun fact).

Oh they breed horses and griffons these days... but Vadalis can make monsters, oh yes, they can make terrifying monsters. Aurala wants them to be her monsters.

Well i think that House Lyrandar might split if the war starts and Valenar and Aundair start attacking each other because the leader of the house is close friend with the Queen but they also have land in Valenar. But what you said is some think i have not thought about before that much. I was just think that she would do think that does not make her have to pull out her army because Aundair is still in it war state of holding it lands and building it armies as it Queen play on her field she love the most, the Table of manipulations and intrigues.

She does work better along those lines with her Royal Eyes, but as many people like to call her on these boards she is a bit of a war monger. Oh she's a good person, but she has no faith in the Treaty of Thronehold, she believes the War will start anew and I like to put all of her actions through that lens, she does nothing unless it strengthens Aundair for the next war... I have to believe that includes her love life.

I for once am going to play devil's advocate and say that this was actually done from sincere motives and real emotions. Now, I'm not saying that Sasik's lineage (Thats his name BTW) didn't play a part in allowing him to marry into the royal family, I'm just saying that a marriage like the one we see here doesn't necessarily mean "big conspiracy", even if it has it written all over it.

Basically it comes down to two issues:
1) If Aurala really was planning something big that required House Vadalis, marriage wouldn't really get anything that she cant buy. Vadalis may be a close family filled with loving siblings, but they're still a mega-corporation that will do whatever it's told as long as the money keeps on coming. Hell, maybe they fell in love while working on the secret super-swallow who brought on the mourning.
2) Now watch out, cause this is the big one-

THEY'VE BEEN MARRIED FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS! Don't you think that if Aurala had a big bad plan it would had already come through, at least some of it? I mean, if you were gonna marry a guy to get influence into his house, wouldn't you use that influence to get an advantage in that pesky little war that's been going on for the last century?

And as for getting in good contacts with the Dragonmarked before they go rouge and abandon the Edicts of Korth- Why get involved with Vadalis, which is by far the least ambitious of the houses.

So what do you say? will you for once let it be love?

Well i think it could be love but i like to see Aurala as a person how will munipulate the people she hates and loves doing it. I think that if they were in love she was thinking that some plan and i see her haveing the ablility to set plans that will talk along time. Now has Nived said they can make mosters and that breings me to my point that how do you not know her plan is working right now. As you said Vadalis is not seen has very powerful but they have land in all the the nations so if she see a good opening she can send her mosters to kill the 4 other leaders of the nations also house Vadalis is more of a family then the other houses so it makes it very easy to get thinks done if you are wouling more with a brother-in-law then with the leader of the house.

By the way do know if Diani has a husband and if not who whould you want her husband to be. This just came to be and i though we could talk about both, now that think about it what about the prince of cyre, would he marry a some one close to his blood line or form a dragonmark house?

She is planning on convincing the majority of the noblehouses to form a pact with some of the demons in the demon wastes and thus gain incredible magic power but cursing future Aundarian nobles with fiendish features. She will then use the newfound power to regain most of the losses that Aundair suffered during the war...and then some.

I'm gonna hafta agree with grifo, here. Reading about her marriage, it's been nothing but a hindrance as far as I can tell. She goes out of her way to make sure Vadalis doesn't get any special favors, while the other Houses are always suspicious that she is. Strikes me as not a very calculated act.

On the other hand, she might have had ulterior plans, but they might have fallen through with the ebb and flow of the Last War. But, at least IMO, marrying for power strikes me as non-good...

just because you marry for power that does not be you are evil or non-good as you said. The European nobles and royalty did this all the time and does not mean that they are evil. I think what make you evil when it come to marrying is how each other act towards each other. If they could have fallen in love after they got married. If you get marry and then seen you husband to an estate when all he is try to do is love you then yes you could call him evil but if you do that to her husband that when he is trying to steal her land and money think that it is ok.

Elrodian!
I know you're trying to give us your opinion. and I would like to read it, even if I disagree.
But please, write your posts better, I can't understand what you're saying because of bad spelling and grramer.
To tell you the truth, it's getting very annoying.
I would love to read what you have to say, but I simply don't understand half of what you write.

~stuff~

Please note that non-good does not necessarily equate to evil. Marriage is a pretty big part of your life (except in ol' Hollywoodland), and thus I imagine the circumstances of getting into it would heavily reflect your alignment.

I am sorry for the post, i did not reread it because i was told i had to get off of my laptop by my father. I am sorry and i will try not to do it next time. What i was saying was that just because you marry with out loving the person it does not mean that they are evil or non-good. Arcane Guyver you are right, just because you are non-good does not make you evil. I think that you could be good even thought you marry for other reason other then love. To be I see Aurala as looking after Aundair first and so she would marry anyone to help Aundair.

The last part of the post was ask if Diani Queen of Thrane had a husband and if not who do you think she would marry. I also ask about Oargev ir’Wynarn and if he would marry a cyre noble or a dragonmark heir.

About Diani of Thrane... nothing official says anything regarding her marital status. All we know is that Otherro is in love with her (check Five Nations), but that it is apparently not reciprocal; other than that, her love life is very much a mystery.

It's funny that you bring up Oargev of New Cyre in relation to her, though. I once played a game in which Oargev was kidnapped and the players, whatever their reasons were, gathered to go rescue him... and my character was Princess Chantalyn ir'Wynarn of Thrane, the far younger sister of Diani, who was head over heels with the prince (even though he had no idea about it). Diani herself was interested in the prince for political reasons and annoyed at Chantalyn ruining her plans^^

My opinion, then, is that Oargev and Diani would very possibly make a nice couple, at least politically. That would strenghten the royal family of Thrane, and would give Oargev a country to settle his refugees on, among other things. Chantalyn would not like it, though^^

I do think that is a good idea but could i get more information about your take on this. I would think that Oargev would marry a cyre noble seeing how almost all the nations attack his nation so the people might want to see a pure Cyre line. What i would like to see with Diani is that she and Otherro get married or at lest tell people that they are lovers, and then the knights of Thrane and the Throneholders join together and talk on the Church. I been thinking about it when I got my Five nation book.

Anyone think that she married into Vadalis in order to help her produce a genetically superior heir to the throne? Born with a 32 point buy thanks to Vadalis embryo therapy, the next King/Queen would be better equipped with outplanning (and outfighting) his/her enemies.

I would think that Oargev would marry a cyre noble seeing how almost all the nations attack his nation so the people might want to see a pure Cyre line.

Very true, but remember the Cyran people are displaced and not exactly richnowadays. While this would likely make his people love him more, I already see most Cyrans as very supportive of Oargev anyway, so he wouldn't win a lot, politically speaking. He'd still have only New Cyre to settle his people on.

Thrane, on the other hand, is an established nation with a powerful military and a single, nigh-powerless, desperate-for-allies queen. For Oargev, marrying Diani would mean he'd be King of Thrane as well as of Cyre and that he'd get Thrane's support for the Cyran people. Diani, on the other hand, would be strenghtened by this marriage to a man of such noble lineage, and it might restore some of the people's faith in the royal family, which would make her more powerful and less of a puppet in the Church's hand.

Also, remember that marriage between royal families is historically a way of peacemaking. I think the chances of another war erupting would grow considerably smaller if such a marriage took place; even if it did, Thrane and Cyre would likely be allies all the time, and maybe even merge as a single country.

Thrane and Cyre were inimical during most of the war, I think, so getting over old hatreds would be a problem. Still, I think it would benefit Oargev and Diani both in the long way.

What i would like to see with Diani is that she and Otherro get married or at lest tell people that they are lovers...

Ah, but remember that they are not lovers. Five Nations says that "Diani is terribly fond of Malik but has no plans to pursue him". I think changing that could be very interesting, though, and also something which could strenghten Diani politically (Otherro is one of the heroes of the nation, after all)... but I doubt it would be enough for them to take on the the Church, ja?

I thought they were with each other so i thought that means they are lovers or i am get it wrong i do not have the book with me. Now you say that you do not think they would not have a lot of political straighten and you might be right but it could be that they could use the power as a way to fuse the Silver Flame and the Royal line together and if this happens they could use the baby as a way to join the throneholders and the people that think the Church is going on the wrong path so they can over thought the church

What if Vadalis maneuvered Aurala into marrying by either providing a lustful reason or a possible link to power? The way I see it, I think the Dragonmarked houses are going to start the next war, then sweep in and take over the nations. They're putting themselves in powerful spots, just waiting to usurp power. Don't believe in the draconic prophecy, and more importantly don't trust anyone with a dragonmark. Mark my words, the dragonmarked houses will start a war and come out ahead. It may even be that the combined power of the dragonmarked houses destroyed Cyre. Aurala is just a pawn in a much larger scheme.
