What to summon?

Apr 23, 2008 9:42:58 So I have a high level Cleric who is going to be summoning something, but I don't know what. The situation is that the group is in a large fight, the high level Cleric is an NPC and pretty powerfully and they are facing a high level devil. At first I thought of calling an angel, but I don't know how angels work in Eberron due to the lack of power the Soverin Host has. The silver flame is also not going to work for Tira Miron is out of the flame and controlling her religion.

I thought maybe just call an other character that the Cleric was friends with to help fight, but I'm not sure.

So basically what I want to know is if Angels are common in Eberron or not, and if not what else would want to fight off a Devil.

Apr 23, 2008 10:10:24 I'm not superior in my knowledge about the planes. But what I do know is that the default rule in Eberron is that unless noted its the same as in standard D&D. So there is no reason he shouldn't be able to summon an angel.

And on a sidenote, the sovereign host are not weak, they just are not physically in the cosmology, but all they still grant spells per day miracles etc.

You are right, in my game however they are week due to several things happening that would make people loss faith in them.

And I've heard the whole if it can happen in normal DnD it can happen in Eberron but that has never sat well with me, just becuase it is a different world.

But ya I am at a real loss when it comes to the cosmolgiy of Eberron as well, that is why I am asking this questoin.

Apr 23, 2008 15:57:15 well i do not totally know about the summoning but think u can do it and i might work better with the plane of Syrania is close to Eberron or at a Manifest Zones of the plane. i think that u could summon becaues i know at lest one angel that is on Eberron but it is a fallen angel and it is in Dreadhold

Apr 24, 2008 1:25:26 Archons tend to come from Shavrath, the Plane of Battle, so if your cleric is about to get into a boss-level fight, you can be sure an archon would be happy to prove itself useful for the right price.

The relative power of the Sovereign Host would not make a difference: While the angel he summons might also worship the Host, it will no more be a part of the host than the cleric is.
Even the higher echelon Celestials simply serve the Host as a cleric would: although its a fitting way to live as their natures would compell them. They have still never met the host or have evidence of its existance.

The angels, archons etc. in Eberron still have the basic mechanics that they have in other D&D settings: they simply come from different planes.

Apr 28, 2008 21:34:28 Hmm… you could use Archons. Archons seem to be able to serve the Sovereign Host. You could have a hound archon with some Paladin levels. This gives your PCs a healer.
