| #1iserithJan 13, 2010 21:58:15 | I run an episodic pulp action Eberron campaign. I start each session (we call them episodes) in media res and I try to vary the locale from episode to episode. It's one session, one story, one level. Each adventure is meant to be a tour de force - spotlighting the location and focusing on action/adventure. There's story arcs that tie the various episodes together, but for the most part, I could easily insert an oddball adventure that doesn't necessarily have to fit. I intend to do that for Episode 9 (which is 9th-level, heh). So far, the characters have spent time in: Sharn The Brelish Countryside Graywall Talenta Plains Stormreach For 10th-level, I intend to have them back in Sharn to wrap up a major plotpoint. But for 9th-level, I'm going to leave it up to my players to decide where they want to adventure and why. I'll pick the best of the suggestions and write an adventure using the idea. Thus, I thought I'd consult the forums and see what YOU would imagine a bunch of 9th-level thrillseekers would do for a single session in Eberron. Any ideas? |

Assuming a "no job too big no job to small mercenary adventurer" dealie without an overarcing plot... Sharn: Start in the heights with a meeting at Morgrave university, only to be sent down into the cogs and then into the ruins of Sharns undercity on a relic-hunting mission. Involves dealing with rival relic hunters (Morgrave scholars, Heirs of Dhakaan, Lord of Blades minions) and the ancient defenses. Brelish Countryside: I vaguely resemble a circle of stones somewhere in the crook of the Zilargo/Breland border. Let's do something with that. Involves clashes with Dhakanni heirs and an incursion by a "rogue" Drooam band investigating the same ruins. Greywall: That's in/near Droaam, correct? Well we had ruin hunting the last week so let's change things up with a little intrigue amoung the monsters. Investigation, exploration and subversion are nescessary elements, but the option for a big all-out monster-mash battle is an option. Talenta Plains: They've dragged you all the way over here, it had better be for a good character relevant reason. Visiting the plains nescessitates either a big bad-ass dinosaur fight or chase scene on dinosaur back.) Perhaps to make the location important, it involves a specific site in the planes (like the Dragon's Graveyard, see the Heirs of Ash series for some inspiration) or an ancient valenar ruin in the desert. Stormreach: Intrigue and urban combat. The law is lax so we may as well make the most of it with a running rooftop battle, hopping from tavern to temple onto a mote of wandering earth, possibly involving hitching a lift on the back of an (uncoperative) giant. Let's get the players involved in a minor plot from the Lords of Dust to change things up a little. Back to Sharn: Which enemy did your players love/hate/fear the most? They've come to town and are messing up their buisness. Time for a climactic multi-part season/tier ender. End the penultimate game with a dramatic cliffhanger if you can, then ask your players to privately e-mail you the conclusion. Construct a composite of the best suggestions and either declare it canon or write the last episode based on that. |
