It got me to thinking that each campaign setting could have its own Warlock Pact*. Which entity do you think would make a great Eberron-specific Pact? The Star Pact already works well for the Daelkyr, the Infernal Pact could be used for the Rajahs, the Dark Pact could be of the Dark Six, and the Fey... could use the Fey. What about Pacts with the Silver Flame? Vol? The Dragons? The Bound Giants mentioned in City of Stormreach? Discuss. ![]() * Not that that pact could only be used in that setting, but be representative of the setting. |

A Silver Flame pact IS and Infernal Pact. All those fire powers just now appear to be silver and you might change some to radiant. |

My main concern is that if they start putting a Pact in every campiagn setting, it will increase the Warlocks printed choices at a much faster rate than any other class, and this could get unbalancing. |
| #4oidOct 07, 2008 16:35:00 | it has been somewhat discussed before, but takin' a cue from that thread. a dream pact for the psionic stuff would be great. i'm really into the struggle between the quori. and a daelkyr pact... oooooww! that would definatly be nice for my evil scheming, let alone what that means for my PC's. i can't wait until 2009. |
| #5AmarilOct 07, 2008 17:27:14 | I don't play 4e at all, but I do think a dragon pact would be fitting for Eberron's heavy draconic theme. I also think it would be a nice way of bringing in the dragonfire adept from v3.5 to 4e. |
| #6rekkoOct 07, 2008 18:22:11 | What about a Couatl pact? Or a Prophecy pact? I also like the idea of a Dream pact. |
| #7That_Blasted_SomoflangeOct 07, 2008 21:28:24 | I'd vote for a Quori pact. Sure, you may let yourself be possessed at any time, but think of all the neat powers you may get, before you turn on your friends, kill them and become an NPC. Or, and I have to say I really like this idea if I do say so myself, the Quori pact is a successor to the Quori Mindhunter prestige class and/or good for a Kalashtar that is trying to unlock his quori rebel lineage. |

Possibly. However, I find that a liberal use of powers that work better with certain pacts can reduce that. Also, pushing each pact towards a certain play style can address this. For example, the Dark Warlock gets to store up extra damage whenever he is hit. Powers that would make him harder to hit would be counterintuitive to his goals. If the Prophecy Pact Warlock got bonuses whenever he used an action point, his powers would surely focus on mega-damage one-shots useable on that action point. |
| #9grug_the_justOct 09, 2008 23:47:08 | For sheer simplicity's sake use the Star Pact and the Warlock powers article and change the names of the Stars to the Moons of Eberron. High flavor, balance, and ease. |
| #10misterfido_dupOct 10, 2008 1:54:46 | I had one player who didn't want to be merely Aberrant Dragonmarked--he wanted to have his entire class revolve around it, until he was as powerful as ye old Halas Tarkanan himself! So we tweaked the Infernal Pact, and made claim that all of his magical powers stem solely from his dragonmark. Flavor-wise, it works beautifully--but I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of extension of this, even though that's unlikely. |
| #11Keyboard-ScribeOct 10, 2008 7:08:16 | I think the established pacts could fit fine if they were changed superficially for flavor. Infernal Pact=Khyber Pact Star Pact=Siberys Pact Fey Pact=Eberron Pact There you go! pacts for the Dragons Between, Above, and Below |

| #13Tharag_BoccOct 11, 2008 12:28:18 | I think the established pacts could fit fine if they were changed superficially for flavor. Not bad, but what about dark pact. |
| #14rekkoOct 11, 2008 16:35:21 | Not bad, but what about dark pact. It's an FR pact, be banned for mentioning it !!! :P |
| #15Tharag_BoccOct 11, 2008 18:01:32 | It's an FR pact, be banned for mentioning it !!! :P This is 4th edition, everything is core now. There will be Artificers in the realms and swordmages in Eberron. Besides even back in 3rd edition Eberron's motto was something along the lines of if it exists there is a place for it. |
| #16rekkoOct 12, 2008 12:09:25 | I hope your figured it was a joke. I, for one, am using FRPG as an Eberron supplement in my game. What about a Dragonmark pact? Rekko |
| #17rauricOct 12, 2008 17:40:38 | It has to be something that can translate into other settings. That is how things work now in 4E. |
| #18PJammaGodOct 12, 2008 20:51:38 | I always saw the Star Pact as something akin to making a deal with the Daelkyr and the wandering Madness of Xoriat. In fact the way you can look at pacts works with the Orrery planes of Eberron - Infernal Pact - Shavarath Fey Pact - Thelanis Star Pact - Xoriat Which leaves one plane left that needs a pact... Go Dal'Quor Go! |
