Where do you suggest I put the Stargate in Eberron?

Really way off topic, but on topic according to Lore is this.  I read the Stargate RPG and Zounds! I have a CAMPAIGN and dozens of worlds to visit.  Including Eberron!  So many possibilities, so many worlds, connected by stable wormholes generated by Ancient (Alteran) technology in the form of Stargates.

So, I thought about a Stargate in Eberron and Forgotten Realms.  I placed my Stargate on the Chessentan and Unther border and the Imaskari had just become the Goa'uld and Jaffa.  So the question is . . .

Where would you put a Stargate in Eberron?

I was thinking that Eberron, or Sarlona, was seeded by the Goa'uld by humans from Earth.  Either from Troy or Greece, or Phoenicia, or all three.  I wanted to put the Stargate in Reidra, somewhere that the Inspired hasn't discovered yet.

 Where would you put it?

In the Campaign

I was thinking of having the SG team go to Eberron (specifically Sarlona) and encounter the Inspired.  I was thinking of playing the Inspired as the Ori are portrayed.  The SG team would probably think that the Inspired are Ori Priors except they look considerably different and they aren't preaching the Book of Origin.  With the SG Team equipped with modern weapons, they might find themselves in a connudrum.  The Inspired act like Ori Priors, but aren't.   But they enslaved an entire culture of humans in almost the same way.   How can the SG team help the humans of Reidra throw off their False Gods, the Quori?  What would happen if the Inspired gain knowledge of the Stargate and actually use it? (Aventus is an Atlantis class flying city, it should have the entire Ancient Gate database).

In actuality, my campaign will deal with a bolder evil, however.   The Dragon Empire of Dragonstar replaces the Goa'uld in my Stargate campaign.  As far reaching as the Goa'uld Empire, the Dragon Empire has a foothold on Eberron in the form of Argonessen.  Both Quesamet (Metallics) and Asamet (Chromatics) have formed colonies on Argonessen, but they have lost contact with Eberron for Millennia, forcing the Dragons to reexamine their metaphysical beliefs at some point.

I'm thinking of making the Sovereign Host Goa'uld System Lords.  Since the Tau'ri have broke the power of the Goa'uld, the Soveriegn Host are really far and aloof.

Fallout: The Stargate.

When the Eberronians learn that there is Life out there in the Universe via the Stargate (news of four Tau'ri  (or 3 Tau'ri and a Jaffa, a Tollan, or a Tok'ra) armed with modern weapons fighting the Inspired travels FAST on Eberron), the Stargate will probably become something of a commodity that the Inspired will definitely control -- but certain Houses -- House Sivis and House Cannith in particular -- would probably want it.  Cannith will want the gate and relocate it to Aundair, Kaarnath, or Breland and find out how to duplicate it.  Sivis would probably want the Ancient Gate Address Database.  Plus the Gatekeepers would also want it -- so you are probably looking at a war between Khorvaire and Sarlona for the Stargate.  What is worse, the Tau'ri return -- in one of our Space Cruisers.  Possibly to check out Dragon Empire influence and to probably see if Quesamet or Asamet would send a Space Fleet.

Also, one of the ascended Ancients might think that the Quori are a problem to be dealt with.   They may not contact the Tau'ri but they may contact a group of Eberronian humans to inspire them to fight the Quori.  Not wishing to be worshipped, the Ascended being might work behind the scenes appearing as the Traveler (kind of makes sense).  When the Ascended find out that one of their own is fighting the Quori, they might banish him or her.

What do you think?

Isn't the Gate of Xabra housed in Arcanix in Aundair? It's described as a circle of standing stones, but the description of it in the Eberron Campaign Guide just screams "stargate"! (Each stone has a glyph in it, activating the stones in a particular sequence creates a portal to a specific plane/dimension etc.) So you could adjust the description slightly, or just say that in Eberron the gate manifests itself differently. Or an illusion spell has been placed upon it so that it doesn't look like a ring...

The Aundarian wizards know that it can be used for dimensional/planar travel but they don't have the address database, just a few randon sequences. What if they found a database and started dialling out? How about the SCG receiving an incoming wormhole from Eberron?!

That's a beautiful thought.  Vaelorn, I like the way you think.  How would the Aundarians ever get a message to the SGC, though?  Remember the iris?

Ah the iris! You're right - I hadn't thought about that. But suppose magic can bypasses the iris? The iris is just a physical barrier after all. That would certainly get the attention of the SGC! Or the SG team could encounter of team of wizards on a third party planet. A wizard with a staff casting fireball could look an awful lot like a Goa'uld - mistaken identity fun for all!

Ah, true.  If the Audarians have their own SGC, you might have some competition.  An Eberronian team might include a Wizard, a Bard, a Fighter, and a Rogue(?) or Paladin(?) maybe?

(Fantasy equivelents --
* Daniel Jackson --> Bard
* Samantha Carter --> Wizard
* Teal'c --> Fighter
* Jack O'Neall --> Paladin(?) )

The competition for knowledge of the Ancients might be feirce.  Eberron is about at the right development scientifically to start Stargate exploration on a grand scale.  If a Kalashtar went with them, mistaken identity might lead the SG team to think that the Kalashtar is one of the Ori Priors, or something on the verge of Ascension (it's the experience of the SG teams that Psychic Powers is one of the signs of ascension).

When I first read the section about the Gate in the ECG I thought it would be fun to run a 'Stargate' like campaign. At the heroic tier the characters would find the address database, and the Audarian military would send them on missions on Eberron. (This might interest House Sivis, of course.) Then at Paragon tier they could start going planar... It could be an interesting way of running a campaign without needing a connected set of adventures.

Although if you are connecting to the SGC, may I suggest going back to 3.x so you can have compatability with the Stargate RPG until we see what 5th edition is going to do?

Ah no, my idea wasn't to connect to the SGC itself (but if you did, having compatible rules would certainly be useful!). It was just to have that style of campaign. The "SGC" would be in Arcanix, and would be directed by the Audarian military/intelligence agencies. You'd have lost gates scattered around remote parts of Khorvaire, Xen'drik and other areas, and at higher levels on the moons/planes.

I like your fantasy equivalents for the main characters! But wouldn't the Samantha Carter character be better as an Artificer?!

i've seen the 4e Artificer.  I have a copy of the book.  Although, I'm not entirely sure.  She seems to know a lot about space physics.  I'll have to check the RPG again, its really tough to nail her down to a D&D class when that class doesn't seem to fit.  It's like putting a round peg in a square hole.  I just announced Wizard since that class is the closest in terms of repository of scientia, or science.

Well yes, she's more of a scholar I guess, rather than a battle mage. I thought artificer because she tends to make a lot of 'stuff' that's used to blow things up!

That's natural.  She tends to be very inventive.

Edit:
I just thought of something.  PHB3 had dual classing, correct?  Then how about a dual-class for Samantha?

Artificer/Wizard hybrid? That could work!
