Though I'm away from my books at present, and can't seem to recall the exact details at present, Rhukaan Draal already has an established past that wouldn't jive with this. If Saerun were a place, I'd likely place it in ruined Cyre. Saerun doesn't necessarily have to have been a place, though that's certainly one logical assumption. The Saerun Road could be named after a hero or noteworthy person of local historical import, a wealthy or influential family, or any number of other things. |

It mentions it in the early war sections, when Darguun was Southwestern Cyre, and enemies crossing the Seawall mountains to attack it. But I don't recall it being mentioned in that context after the Goblin Uprising. The Saerun Road, which is featured in the opening adventure, is a pretty major thoroughfare, an it runs through Lyrenton, Gathering Stone and on up to the Marguul Pass. Although, it looks like it takes a hard right at Lyrenton, and if continuing straight would go through Warden Keep down to Arthuun. Since Saerun is mentioned so prominently in the FoW and in the ECG introduction adventure, it's odd that it doesn't merit a mark on the map. Barring a semi-canonical opinion, I'm inclined to put it where Warden Keep is. It seems like a good location for a major Cyran city. |
