#1 less_than_vince May 09, 2010 7:26:12	Sorry for my English writing. Long time reader, first poster.   So, I’m running my first eberron campagn ever. Have all the 3 ed book, but never had the chance to use them. We play a game in 4th edition, and my player don’t know much about the setting. So, to use my old book and initiate them to the world , I ‘have decided to run The forgotten forge (3 rd campagn setting) and Shadow of the last war, whisper of the blade and grasp of the emerald claw. I have redone all the encounter, but it work. -          Spoiler alert – To make the player the center of the story, I have decided to change some of the detail in the campagn. For exemple, one of the character is a human warlord, 38 year old, who fought a part of the war with emerald claw warrior on is side. So, I change some Npc of the book to fit his story. An other player is a cannith wizard with a mark. So he already is an allies of Lady Elaydren etc. My problem is the third part of the adventure, whisper of the blade. I plan to use Kaius in a future campaign in relation of the karrnathie player. So, I don’t want to use vampire to often. That’s why I made the npc Garrot a mummy, instead of a changeling pretending to be a vampire. But, The character of Lucian, in Whisper, became a vampire in the service of Calderus, a vampire with no real impact on the game. I’don’t want more vampire, so I try to make Lucian and Calderus «something else», to use vampire later on the story. But what? Lucian must be transformed into something that drive im mad and stronger. I thought about a kind of Foulspawn, with tie with Mordaken and Xoriat, or a Khyber lord. One of my player is a half-elf, infernal warlock of bel shalor, shadow in the flame. Maybe I can use something here? A devil experiment?  Or something else entirely. That’s why I turn to you.
#2 superdeadsmurf May 10, 2010 19:39:22	It sounds like you have a good handle on things actually.  I also ran my players through the schema path in 4E - and well it runs ok.   I really like Lucan Stellos as a Vampire - it gives him all the powers he needs to keep getting away (and the players will start HATING him because he gets away so much) If you're planning on using vampires again the campaign though, use him as a vampire anyway, or at least with Vampiric power.  Make it clear over time that he had not unlocked his full potential as a vampire yet, and is still relying on the sword for power, and REAL vampires are a terror to behold in comparison.  You could also make the source of power for the sword be infernal in origin, trying to spread the disease of vampirism, or something - since that would be nice to hit upon that character's origin. With that, plus Garrow being a mummy (I like that change) I think Lucan will serve more to Foreshadow, rather than spoil the later use of Vampires.
