#1 rizzenil_vrill Aug 31, 2009 5:33:47	I have a player in my Eberron game that wants to use the White Lotus Academy in his background (he studied there), but from what I understand, the Academy adventure is built for the Forgotten Realms. Have you used the White Lotus Academy in your Eberron game?  Where did you put it?

Anyway, I've mentioned to my players the possibility that the White Lotus Academy is a arcane institution in Breland. It's a less prestigious institution than Arcanix or the Arcane Congress, but is considered to be equal to the arcane edjucation courses taught at Rekkenmark.

I was also under the impression that it was for PoL. And yeah either make it the arcane institute of some country that isnt Aundair or Karrnath. Or make it a "worldwide" school that used to be for all of Gallifar, but now holds no aligience to anyone but themselves and the code of Galifar. Could make for some interesting plot hooks as well.
#4 Nibelung_ajr Sep 01, 2009 0:08:44	White Lotus can be a "sub-school" inside any arcane institute, like Morgrave, Arcanix, or Wynarn. But i do like too the option of White Lotus being just fluff, and the "arcane fighting style" is something more personal. Maybe a lost mentor, or a self-learning technique. Dont need to insert a full new school of arcane arts in the scenario to use it.
#5 RedRider Sep 01, 2009 2:00:11	Suggestion: White Lotus was located in Cyre and, well, we all know what happened by now. The surviving staff, students and alumni spread to the four winds and now there's at least one or two in each nation who are capable of teaching new initiates White Lotus techniques, even outside their own specialisation. Efforts to start a new White Lotus Academy have been met with a measure of suspicion but are mostly held back by the poverty of Cyran refugees in other nations. A request for funds to establish a new academy on the outskirts of New Cyre was rejected by Prince Ogarev, who placed a higher priority on his activities searching the Mournland for clues about the Mourning.
#6 Gilo Sep 01, 2009 3:51:40	The historical IRL connotation of "White Lotus" makes me think of a Riedran underground school of magic.
#7 Vael Sep 01, 2009 12:29:33	That's close to what I'd do with the school. The original White lotus Academy was back in Riedra. During the wars and the coming of the Inspired, the original academy was destroyed. A replica of the original academy was built in Adar, and is home to most of the Adarian arcanists. That said, other White Lotus arcanists fled to Khorvaire, and the principles and techniques of the White Lotus can be found in most major arcane universities.
#8 Veritatis Sep 01, 2009 17:25:30	One of my players wanted to use White Lotus Academy in his background too, so I turned it into some sort of Faculty in Arcanix. Since the maps in the article represent a pretty small location, I just ripped off the gardens and made the Faculty one floor in one of the towers of Arcanix.
