I thought I would start with a wizard faire in the Bazaar in Middle Dura. It's close to Clifftop. Plus, I'm having the characters' residences be centered in Overlook. So the question has to do with a Wizard's Fair in Sharn. Instead of Aundair, which is the home of all wizards; I'm having it in Sharn. Perfect place for a murder, don't you think? So, are Wizard Faires common in the Five Nations after the Last War? |

You could go the professional route, similar to a scientific or physician's symposium, with lectures, seminars, and what not only for the professionally arcane. Stress that this is not a separate 'class' of people but rather a vocation with this route. With plenty of professional rivalry and jealousy to use as a backdrop to your murder. The other route would be a trade show, similar in concept to the above that it would be more or less a professional affair, again there would be the seminars and what not but there would also be stalls and booths as vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers show off their arcane artisanship, here the competition would be less for the prestige and more for the bottom line, contracts and careers are made and broken at such events. Presentation is everything. Or you have the more classical fantasy fair type set up open to the public, a 'worlds fair' type of deal where instead of selling to each other these various independent arcane businesses, and various sub sets of the Dragonmarked houses (remember that though two shops might be both licensed to the same D'Marked house... they could still be in direct competition), show2 off their latest wares to the public. This is where they make big announcements about the next big thing! Think of things that were shown off at our own real world world's fairs, lightbulbs, television, all kinds of world changing wonders... do the same in Eberron. Here you'd have sabotage and industrial espionage, I think any of these would be viable, it all depends on what picture of Eberron you wish to present. |

Trusting that they are storyteller or method actor type players. ![]() I like the concept of the World's Fair and the Orien, Vidalis booths. You need scantily clad, young women "manning" the booth these days at these types of things. They are practically an institution now. |
