Xen'Drik... Giants... and Giant Undead?

Jun 29, 2009 20:55:59 I'm a very recent convert to Eberron. In fact, the 4e EPG was my first ever Eberron purchase. I LOVE it.

What I've been wondering is, given that the Age of Giants is in the past, are there giant undead stomping around in Xen'Drik? Should I expect to see notes about such things in the ECG?

Jun 29, 2009 21:00:19 Xen'drik has always been a big empty spot to be filled with anything and everything you want. That's why it has every climate type, fallen empires both grandiose and primitive...

In other words, there's no reason to _NOT_ expect undead--if the DM wants it there, it belongs in Xen'drik and can fit quite easily.

Giant traditions. This would eventually be passed on to their Elven slaves, influencing much of the culture in House Vol (who bore the Mark of Death and where eventually destroyed) and formed the underlying basis for the Blood of Vol faith's beliefs.

It was a more primitive sort of necromancy though. Many advances have been made since then. Xen'drik Giants have a sort of Meso-American and Egyptian feel to them, so Giant mummies, tomb guardians, the forsaken ghosts of fallen imperial citizens, and immortality seeking god-kings would seem more appropriate than dapper vampires and tower bound liches imo. Death Giants are a must.

The idea of a giant, flaming skeleton guardian is just awesome. Even more awesome... the idea of LOTS of them.

Xen'drik has always been a big empty spot to be filled with anything and everything you want. That's why it has every climate type, fallen empires both grandiose and primitive...

Best thing is Xen'Drik doesn't even like staying the same shape or pretty much contents. It's the wonderful land where everything happens.

The Qabalrin were elves not giants. The giants seem to have practiced necromancy first but the Qabalrin mastered it.

In answer to the original poster, likely Xen'Drik has plenty of large and huge undead although there are aren't any types specific to the giants that I know of.

I hadn't been expecting completely unique undead variants, necessarily. I'm perfectly content with the idea of undead that are simply larger versions of the varieties found elsewhere. Giant liches and the aforementioned giant flaming skeleton are plenty cool all by themselves. Any unique stuff that may come along would just be icing on the cake.
