Zuggtmoy & Juiblex in Eberron

I know past articles from Keith Baker stated that the various Demon Princes and Archdevils could serve as Overlords in the world of Eberron. What about the Demon Queen Zuggtmoy and Demon Lord Juiblex though? Their desriptions make them sound like they would have more of a connection with the Daelkyr. Zuggtmoy was supposedly based of a Lovecraftian entitie, while Juiblex is the lord of slimes and oozes. He could merely be an alias for Kyrzin, prinze of slime and ooze. So any suggestions on how to sort this out, Zuggtmoy and Juiblex could very well just serve as fiendish overlords, and they share a history together, but it seems rather redundant to have both an Overlord and Daelkyr with a dominion over slime.

Jan 22, 2010 9:04:48 Demonic lords of Fungi and Slime...no, I think they work perfectly as spawn of Khyber. As for the redundancy "problem", I see it as a perfect opportunity to set up clashes between different cults of Khyber.

On the other hand, I think you could easily turn Jubilex into Kyrzin by shifting a few traits with those of Belashyrra; no one says all daelkyr have to be physically identical. Alternately, Jubilex could be Kyrzin's greatest creation... or his uncle from Xoriat (since among other things, the daelkyr aren't actually supposed to be the most powerful things in Xoriat - they're just the ones that take an interest in the outside world).

I think you could do it either way. Ellorin's point of having a clash between Khyber cults is certainly interesting. On the other hand, I think you could easily turn Jubilex into Kyrzin by shifting a few traits with those of Belashyrra; no one says all daelkyr have to be physically identical. now, is it that the daelkyr are just the powerful ones that take an interest in extra-xoriatan affairs or is it that the more powerful things didn't make it through the planar conjunction?

from my understanding, it was the latter...

In my opinion, both. The more powerful things didn't care and thus didn't make it through. But there are things in Xoriat more on par with the Overlords and even il-Lashtavar... they are just even more alien to us than the daelkyr are. At least the daelkyr have goals we can SORT of understand.

Hellcow your suggestion just gave me a wealth of ideas. Perhaps Zuggtmoy and Juiblex could both be creations of Kyrzin, and have a "sibling" rivalry. Maybe thier demon lord traits could be explained as them becoming involved with the Lords of Dust and/or the various Rakshasa Rajas and the like. With your talk about an uncle, given the alien nature of the Daelkyr, perhaps Kyrzin reproduces through budding and/or binary fission, the two are his/her/it's "offspring".
