| #1warrior-poetDec 20, 2008 15:31:58 | I am in a Forgotten Realms Campaign. Our DM has let it be known that a good deal of our campaign will be on/near Tashluta (Shining Sea area). He has also stated that a lot of our campaign will be on/near the Sea. I had been positioning my Ranger for a nasty ass Bowmen---but I am getting the hint that I may need to adapt a bit. What are some good PrC's, feats, and magic items that might help? I have seen the Dread Pirate from Complete Adventurer and have Stormwrack---but I am looking for something that will allow me to continue to be a bowman, while picking up some seaworthy talents. The Leviathan Hunter is interesting---but has a bit of a narrow focus. Thoughts? |

Dipping cleric or following a god of the sees like Ishtisia, Umberlee (allows acces to the Waveservant PrC) or Valkur might give some handy spelllike abilities for underwater action. Get some points in swim. Or try an aerial mount and ride. |

I didn't want to blow a feat or add levels in another class if I could avoid it. Right now I am leaning towards Leviathan Hunter from Stormwrack. |

As an archer I'd be looking for range and power. Cragtop archer might give the added long range spotting and firing. If you're not averse to it, use the strongest poison you can find. Underwater maneuverability for some readied move actions out of a leviathans mouth is also crucial. Dragon 314 has the Darkwater Knight which gets favourite enemies: (aquatic) and a gets typechange to aquatic seems fun. Animal Lord: Shark might give enough swim skill to outmaneuver some larger beasts and enough toothy allies to flank. Masterwork swimming tools (vests or somesuch) are also a good investment. |
