First of all (from Monster Manual II): maeluth are the tiefling's dwarven counterpart or more clearly they are dwarves with a devilish bloodline.
A friend of mine will play a tough maeluth fighter in our new campaign so i need to integrate them both historically and legally.
In terms of rules i need to locate them somewhere between the dwarves lands indicated in Player's Guide to Faerun to determine the known languages, bonus languages, regional feats and bonus equip.
Excluding the lands of wild, grey, artic and urdunnir dwarves i can choose between shield and gold dwarven lands, but by which criteria?
I don't know very well the faerunian dwarves ancient and modern history so i don't know if in the past there was an infamous dwarven clan that has crossed their bloodline with the one of devils (like elves of House Dlardrageth did with demons creating the fey'ri), but if it existed it would be a good point of origin for the maeluth breed.

I'm looking for something like fey'ri and tanarukk. I tried a little with Grand History of Faerun w/o finding something interesting.

There are some arch-devils in Fearun that could have had a hand in creating Maeluth. Gargauth wanders the surface of Fearun and loves tempting mortals and leaving his spawn, and he might have travelled the underdark or dwarven realms such as Shanatar (shield dwarf held Lake of Steams) or Bhaerynden (the Shaar's Great Rift i.e. gold dwarf realms).
Deep Shanatar is interesting because they were a region of several shield dwarf clans that all contested for rulership. Perhaps an archdevil such as Bel, Belial or Mephistopheles have had soulcontracts with a dwarven clan during that conflict to increase their influence during the political clan wars or the strenght of their legions.
Here's a list of named FR devils.
You could make them an off-shoot of the Ironstar Clan of Shield Dwarves. Thats the mythical clan of Dwarves in the Realms. Place them where ever you want.;)

I found a lot of stuff about Dragonspear Castle, a place where devils respawned a lot of times during the past ages and the recent past. It was founded by a dwarf hero right? And he has attracted a lot of dwarves there. This can be a good point for the birth of a maeluth breed (devils spawn from the portal into the castle that capture and couple with the dwarves).
And what about this Daeros Dragonspear himself? In Grand History of the Realms they say he is an "half dwarf" (page 127), how can this be possible? Half-dwarf and half-what?

Clan Ironstar was a 1E/2E Realms thing. WotC dropped it or quit mentioning that clan of Dwarves for whatever reasons.
The were a Clan of Shield Dwarves from Silvermoon (general area) that went to Myth Drannor IIRC. The helped fight the Army of Darkness (Circa DR 711 to 714). IIRC the Ironstar Dwarves also migrated to the Vast area and further east.
Now I could be wrong. I will ask the scribes at www.candlekeep.com for more info.
