Hey, I've been playing d&d for a while now, but I was just recently introduced to the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. Sure, the book is pouring with detail but it lacks images and definately lacks maps. I was wondering if anybody here could connect me with some resources such as regional maps, city maps, and some campaign arcs.

I play v3.5 and find 4e god-awful. I'm especially disturbed by how screwed up the FR campaign setting is in 4e, so I am looking for older resources. My players are gonna be traveling around the Sea of Fallen Stars, visiting more of the exotic locales such as Chessenta, Mulhorand, Thay, Sembia, and so forth. Anything interesting in those locations or ones that would be intruiging would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a Forgotten Realms wiki.

A detailed but ugly (imo) map of the area you mentioned. And more maps at the very bottom of this page.

And some older big, official maps from WoTC.

Hope that helps.

This might help.

Dungeon and Dragon Magazines both had a fair amount of information on the Realms. You might be able to order appropriate back issues from Piazzo.

Don't have a similar link for Dragon, but there may be something there. I'll look in my old ones and see if I can find anything.

I know 3.x had some decent books for Forgotten Realms. If it's solely information about certain areas, and maps you are looking for I'd suggest finding some of the 2nd Edition material.

There is also Forgotten Realms Atlas which was for 2nd edition but should mostly still be relevent for 3rd. Though you will have to look on eBay or Amazon to see if any can actually be found.

First, I'd download all the Realms sourcebooks here; they're at risk of vanishing. Take a particularly good look at the Volo's Guides.

Here are some sourcebook references: Sea of Fallen Stars covers the Inner Sea itself, especially the undersea realms; Mulhorand and Chessenta are detailed in FR10 Old Empires; Thay is described in the Spellbound boxed set and Unapproachable East; and Sembia's cities (along with many others) are set out in Forgotten Realms Adventures. Of course, the exotic South won't seem that way if you don't establish the cultural norms of the North first.

Some web resources:
"Rand’s Travelogue: Caravans and Trading Companies in Sembia"
"Rand’s Travelogue: More Old Empires and Sembia!"
"Realmslore: The Matchmaker of Sembia"
"Realmslore: Melvos Hammerstars"
