Hello, All -

Long time browser first time poster.

When I heard about My Realms for LFR back in May I was quite excited. I have never enjoyed DND so much since our group started playing 4.0 back in December.

As I planned out the My Realms adventure I got to thinking that it would be quite cool to try building 3D maps for all my combat and skill challenge encounters. It took alot of effort and a lot of nights glueing sticks, rocks, styrofoam, moss, painting grid lines and more...but it was a blast. I have decided to run my next My Realms advenutre in 3D as well. Check out the info below for a basic overview of the adventure and check out some pictures at http://www.dnd3d.ca. I am curious to know if anyone else is using 3D maps and to see what they look like.

My Realms (MYRE1-1) Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night
Photo Album

Run Date: June 14th, 2009

Duration 4:00hr

Description: The skies darken over Netheril, a mysterious and deadly army lead by a fiend named Masaka terrorizes villages and towns across the countryside. You find yourself in the remote human mining village of Farpoint with no idea how you arrived. A battle rages...you must choose a side and form alliances to survive. Can you stop Masaka and his armies before it is too late? Along the way you will encounter many others on a similar journey but with very different goals. You cannot defeat Masaka alone but who can you trust?

This is a great idea! Although very labor intensive. There use to be a company that made many 3D dungeon tile like products with walls and floor. I can't remember which one at the moment.
I'm interested to know how this enhances your game. You will have to report on this.

I guess I should mention that we did run the My Realms mod with 3D maps on June 14th. It was awesome! The PCs were more involved then usual...getting up to check out the maps and how they could leverage the 3D terrain. I also included extras on the maps like ropes that could be cut, a Raiders of the Lost Ark style rolling rock with riddles to solve to avoid certain death.

From the DM side it was alot of fun as well - inside the mines the spiders had alot of places to hide. In the final map on the first floor of the temple there is a system of ramps and pullies that gave both the PCs and my team PC Killers opportunity for higher ground.

I can't wait to try the next My Realms mod...I am thinking of having one encounter with a hedge maze.

Howdy folks!

I just started building maps for my next 3D My Realms adventure. Feel free to check out some pictures of the Black Stone Coliseum currently under construction.

Also will be building a vault, maze and earth mote for the upcoming mod.

I use Fat Dragon's products in almost everything I run. Love 'em!

There's a ton of pictures on their website, which somebody linked up thread. If you mean specifically of my utilization of 'em, nope, but that's a good idea. I'm running the new Baldur's Gate module on Saturday and am putting together terrain for that. I'll try to remember to snap a couple and link them here.

Cheers,

Hey folks,

I worked my tail off over the last three days to get my arena built and I am about 99% done...and its time to go to bed lol.

I am really happy with how it turned out and can't wait for my PCs to try it out! Check it out!.

Excellent work.

I am too beginning to include 3D props on my gaming table.

To see the look on the player's faces when we use them is worth the bit of extra work.

I like the lighting effects, nicely done.

Kudos
