Hi folks, so in my goofing around, I've slowly built up a few of the characters from the novels using Character Builder... Here they are.... I obviously had to take some license with some things because the power or magic item simply doesn't exist in the Character Builder and we don't have a lot of leeway to create new elements in it. Comments welcome.

Elaith was quite challenging because he most certainly is not optimized in any way because he's a little of this and that. I struggled with making him a hybrid, but he had too many wizard spells to do that. I was also tempted to have him multiclass as a rogue, but that didn't seem a good fit either, thus you get what I did below, which I think worked out okay in the end.

I started easier... She's got some really complex abilities, which worked great for 3.5E, but will be harder to replicate in 4E. I've been thinking about her and her crew as possibly next.

Preliminarily, however, I'm thinking she would be a hybrid assassin-rogue? Thoughts?

I hate the assassin class.

I'd go straight rogue

TomCosta

Assassin would giver her the shadowdancer powers that rogue doesn't offer, though, so unless there's another suggestion, I don't see another effective way around mimicing those abilities.

I don't know too much about Fox-at-Twilight besides a short story or two that I read about her but the Assassin does work really well with the shadow-dancer styles. I'd say at least go hybrid assassin|rogue and take utility/attack powers that allow her to shadow-jump/teleport around.

Erik played her once wit hthe shadow assassin paragon path.

though I suppose I'd ahve to see more shadow power source classes.....I will dis the assassin for all time....

only becuase its ddi exclusive.

Ah, i see. Though many feel the Assassin is probably the weakest striker class of all, even lower than the Warlock (which got recent updates to make it loads better btw). I love it's flavor and the way the class plays with "shrouds" and so-forth. Sure, it's not game shattering in power but it's just fun and unique to play.

Well upon closer inspection, I think it more likely I will give her assassin multiclass feats because not enough of the assassin powers capture her abilities (meaning I'd be making her a whole lot more shadow-y than she needs to be), but there are definitely a few that are most appropriate.

That works well too. The Assassin class has a range of shadow powers that could mimic what Fox-at-Twilight does so going the MC assassin feat is a better selection than hybrid.

Late to the party, as always. (How do I not notice these threads?)

Hey Tom! (and others!)

re: Fox-at-Twilight: She's in kind of a unique situation, as she's still active in 4e, and you haven't seen her (yet) in full display of her abilities, but if you want to give her a shot, by all means, go for it!

I use Lady Ilira "Fox-at-Twilight" Nathalan as a NPC in my 4e FR game, wherein she is a 15th level elite skirmisher with shadow dancing (teleportation) powers. I don't currently foresee a formal release of the build I use, but you might check out the upcoming Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond boxed set for more on shadowdancers (assuming said entry survived editing). Remember that she can shadowdance and also animate her shadow (which is not actually HER shadow).

My favorite PC build that I've created for Twilight on character builder is an eladrin artful dodger rogue MCed to assassin (of the shadow wielding variety, not so much the D&D Essentials assassin). Her shadow would be a companion character. When I play her as a PC at Matt James's gaming table, this is what I use.

That was pretty much the route I was headed, but she is nevertheless a challenging character to convert and sadly since I posted this I've had almost no time to mess around with her again. Mayhap soon. In the meantime, and perhaps when you can (post Shadowfall issuance), maybe you can post what you've used at Matt James's game table or your elite skirmisher NPC....
