4e Tieflings in the Realms

Has there been any mention of how they (or even if they) will introduce the new concept of Tielfings to the new Realms? I know they have briefly mentioned their plans for Dragonborn but I haven't seen/heard anything about the Tiefling yet.

Also any mention about 4e Fey'ri?

Thanks...

I think they said no, the FR GH tieflings would stay the same as it states them in races of faerun.

they also said that the 4e tief would only fit in in narfell.

-Basically, there are going to be two variations on the theme, thematically. Whether or not they both have the same stats or not, we'll see.

I think the mechanics will be the same, just different backgrounds between the two. They are also grouping sub-races into the new stats, if not the fluff.

I can't remember where, but I think I read that Eladrin are supposed to be spell plagued humans??? I hope not, better they are Sun and Moon elves that are more in touch with their Fey ancestors then their cousins, the Elves (wood, wild, etc...)

Before we blow this out of the water, I'm fairly certain they will all be called elves still (could be wrong though) and the biggest difference will be fluff instead of crunch (although I can see sub-race like racial feats to help make each distinct from the other... that seems kind of cool now that I think about it...).

I hope they cover Fey'ri as well, I think they are distanced from elves enough to make it possible. Not sure if winged elves will make the muster...

-Eladrin are going to be, mechanically, Sun, Moon and Star Elves. To the people of Faerûn, however, the Sun, Moon and Star Elves are still going to be known as Sun, Moon and Star Elves, but are going to have the stats of the 4e Eladrin.

-In one of the articles, there was an apparent error somewhere, or something that will be further expanded upon in upcoming stories, presumably, as it mentioned a member of the Emerald Enclave, a Human, turning into an Eladrin.

I wonder if that's anything like the awkwardness of coming out to your parents for the first time?

"Mom, Dad. I'm a Elf."

I kinda dodged that bullet myself, for one, I'm only bi, and another, one of my Uncle's is Bi as well. :P

As far as I know, Tieflings are going to be very prominent in FR and probably have their own kingdom. This is due to the fact that, during the Spellplague (primarily), people turned to other denizens for power. They made pacts with demons, gave up seed or egg, and ended up with some very horny children--much like themselves.

As for the Eldarin: they are elves--but simply more like you would see in Lord of the Rings or something. Highly magical, illuminate with magic, and separated from the rest by a semi-plane or some such crap.

Dammit--whats it called?

My understanding was the new continent of Abeir-Toril that landed/was discovered/whatever was going to be the original home for both the 4e Dragonborn and Tieflings. If I recall correctly (from the Podcast) there were two ancient empires on Abeir and the new races were their former citizens/rulers/whatever.

-On Fey'ri, nothing. There aren't too many of them left, anyway. Concerning Tieflings, we know pretty much the same as we did months ago. Thematically, there will be two different types of Tieflings- the pre-4e ones, and the post-4e ones- that will probably be the same mechanically. Other than that, though...

-A 100 year time jump could give the remaining Fey'ri time to rebuild some strength.

-In Swordmage there is A Tiefling Sorceror in it. He is from the near east. So I think it has something to do with ancient Narfell.

-Not really. Fey'ri are Elves, in the end. It takes about 100 years for an Elf to reach maturity in the first place. So, say, there are 100 Fey'ri left. Those 100 Fey'ri are all equally split male and female, and all have 1 kid. That's 50 new Fey'ri, in 100 years.

-I was using an extremely easy example to aid in my math idiocy. The ratio of males to females isn't 50/50. There may be more or less than 100 Fey'ri left (it was implied that there are less). Because of familial relations and such, not every male Fey'ri is going to pair with every female Fey'ri, and so on...

-Well, didnt the Drow before, they became the Drow build a city where the city of Dun-Tharos IIRC eventually came to be. Didn't the evil of the place draw those that created ancient Narfell?

-The Elven presence on Faerûn was mostly relegated to the Hearlands, parts of the north, and parts of the south.

-Anyway I brought up Narfell with the Tieflings to say that there could be a Narfell conection in the 4E Realms.;) I didn't mean in conection with the Fey'ri. I posted my thoughts together, instead of seperating them.:P

I didn't think that it was ever said how many Fey'ri survived, and there where at least a few thousand to start off with.

Also, I could be wrong here, but I thought that it was said that if a Fey'ri and a Sun Elf mated the resulting child was a Fey'ri (or maybe possibly Fey'ri). I can't remember where I saw it but I though a WotC product mentioned them capturing Sun Elf females for breeding stock.

Overall not enough for another army but possibly enough for a settlement/small city; and certainly enough for the odd adventurer or two.

-Oh, okay. Clean up your thoughts! :P

-So LK do you think that the Fey'ri are finished in the 4E Realms?

-More or less, they were finished years ago, when the lot of them were banished and sealed away. The current blow against them brought down their already low numbers. The prospects aren't looking good, with the exception of the random Fey'ri here and there.

-A Drow falling in love with a Surface Elf. Well, it does happens, provided the Drow is an Eilistraeean. That said, a proper Sun Elf would not fall in love with a Fey'ri. Sun Elves dispise Drow because they fell from the Seldarine. Sun Elves hate Fey'ri, because they fell from the Seldarine, and they used to be Sun Elves, so they should have known better, and give Sun Elves a bad name.

-Ironic, since I am currently the youngest person here, at the Forgotten Realms boards.

And I'm sure going toe to toe with the first Mystra may have done things to your brain.

-First misconception: I never actually fought with Mystra. The spell was cast, that was that, and magic was mine. That said, this aspect did not retain any of Karsus' madness. That all went to KtM, hence his monkier, "the Mad".

-While it would be nice, I am contractually bound to not be able to do that. Unlike normal deities, where they can recieve the calling to become a priest/priestess without realizing, being a Hand of Karsus is akin to being a Chosen, and thus, it's a bit more complicated.

-In a court of law (American), having Alzheimer's is a situation when a person can claim insanity.

Just to clarify -

This is true, but only to a point. Not all cases of Alzheimer's disease progress in the same way behaviorally, or have exactly the same biological or temporal progression. Early-stage Alzheimer's, when most faculties and moral reasoning are intact, would likely -not- qualify for the legal definition of insanity. In all such cases, legal insanity must be proven (and proven for the time during the criminal act in question). Some cases of Alzheimer's (early stage, or if moral reasoning are largely intact based on tests by professional witnesses) would not meet the legal criteria.

Late stage Alzheimer's would almost certainly meet criteria for an insanity defense, but even then there are some canny lawyers who could find a competing expert witness to argue against it.
