The Roll of Years was created by Augratha the Mad, an elderly woman who hoped to record her erratic visions, but was later resurrected and adapted by Alaundo the Sage to organize his own prophetic predictions. Many of Augratha's original predictions were lost, and some were said to have been outright inaccurate, so people by and large follow Alaundo's work. We don't know the backstory behind the majority of names, but there's said to be a relevance to that phrase and something that occurred within that year (although some of them are so out there that I can't imagine to what they might be alluding). Then again, some are just so painstakingly obvious, like the Year of Rogue Dragons... As for overall purpose, it's just a neat way of keeping track of the different ages in FR lore, and giving each year a special feel to it, even if most of them have never really come up. |

Somewhere I was reading that the complete Roll of Years of Alaundo the Sage was going to be posted on this website. I've been searching around for it, however, haven't had any luck finding where it is referenced. Supposedly this list included upwards of 1400 - 1600 name years? Would you happen to know the link? Thanks! |
