Number 0, Remember, not every Dm wants to hear lectures about how the novels would prevent his or her campaign from starting much less continuing.

You aren't playing in the Forgotten Realms 616. You're playing in the Forgotten Realms 1284, or the Forgotten Realms 32. You're playing in your version of the Forgotten Realms. Feel free to change and alter things to suit your tastes.
#3 zousha_omenohu Oct 21, 2008 11:16:20	Suggestion 2 Even if you do decide not to change anything about the Realms you're playing in, anything goes with character creation. Don't let the fluff about the Realms and its people restrict you from playing the kind of character you want to play. The Realms offer a surprising amount of ways to justify even the most off-the-wall character concepts. Don't be fooled by the fact that the Realms have an established world and culture. There are exceptions to every norm there. I mean, just look at Drizzt Do'Urden!
