#1 eldiablo Jan 06, 2010 22:44:50	Heya. Im wondering if those that have read the pirate and ghost king books could advice me on something. See i personally don't like Drizzt at all. so at first i had no interrest in the the new books. However I heard a while ago that Athrogate AND Jarlaxle actually have a role in those books aswell and I LOVE those two nutjobs. Im just wondering if  they have a significant part in those books. enough that I can tolerate Drizzt and his mates. Would you advice that i read those books or not? Thanks for any response   Spoilers allowed. i don't mind.
#2 sfdragon Jan 06, 2010 22:48:07	athrogate and jarlaxle had a bigger role in the ghost king, and a minor role in the pirate king. dont bother with pirate king if you want athrogate and jarlaxle, get ghost king
#3 LordManshoon Jan 06, 2010 23:54:05	*agrees with sfdragon* The nice thing about The Ghost King is that you really don't need to read TOK or TPK beforehand in order to understand the story (rather, you need to read The Cleric Quintet and The Sellswords Trilogy ). The plots of the first two books in the trilogy are only mentioned basically once apiece in TGK. Athrogate and Jarlaxle are both main characters in The Ghost King, and are present from the beginning until the end. If you enjoy those two, you'll most likely love this book. I personally thought it was one of RAS's worst works (ranked in the trilogy alone, I found it slightly worse than Pirate and leaps and bounds worse than Orc), but that's just me. Not because of Athrogate and Jarlaxle, though. They were fine.
