| #1zebastianSep 02, 2008 17:23:31 | I was wondering if there are any plans to develop the world of Abeir and what impact a "Returned Toril" might have on it. Although it was implied that areas like Mulhorand and Unther were crushed by Abeir's return, if that was not entirely the case, then Abeir may be a world where the war between Primordials and Gods resumed anew. The pantheon of Mulhorand and Unther might find themselves aligned against the Primordials and Elder Wyrms that rule that land. A world defined by such an active and ongoing conflict might be an interesting place to set up a campaign, or at least host some epic level adventures. |

| #3GreenKnightSep 02, 2008 17:26:00 | I doubt we'll ever get an Abeir campaign book, as they shunted those countries over to Abeir in order to get rid of them for good. Making a campaign setting which includes those discarded locales defeats the whole point. |

Making a campaign setting which includes those discarded locales defeats the whole point. An Abeir published setting may never happen but this is a great idea for a homebrew ;). Thanks, Zebastian! I may get some use out of my 4e Campaign Guide after all. |
| #5Dark_Wizard_02Sep 02, 2008 20:59:35 | I'd give an Abeir/Returned Toril game a try if I ever encounter one. |
| #6lord_karsusSep 02, 2008 23:58:51 | I doubt we'll ever get an Abeir campaign book, as they shunted those countries over to Abeir in order to get rid of them for good. Making a campaign setting which includes those discarded locales defeats the whole point. -Right. They were "gotten rid of", because, apparently, they didn't appeal to enough people to merit them staying in the setting to begin with. |
| #7ody_saraph_of_karsusSep 03, 2008 12:14:40 | -Right. They were "gotten rid of", because, apparently, they didn't appeal to enough people to merit them staying in the setting to begin with. And Abeir does.........right?.....right? |
| #8GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 12:24:48 | To be honest, Returned Abeir appeals to me far more than Maztica ever did. Although I didn't care for Maztica to begin with. If it'd sunk beneath the ocean like a Torilian version of Atlantis I would've probably cheered. |
| #9lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 12:27:37 | And Abeir does.........right?.....right? -...Maybe. It's much more "universal fantasy" than Maztica (MesoAmerica), Unther (Mesopotamia), and Mulhorand (Egypt), so, in that way, it scores more points with more people. |
| #10ody_saraph_of_karsusSep 03, 2008 13:11:41 | Well, I did care for Maztica (me being latino I sorta relate to it) but if "they" aren't going to develop Abeir, what's the point ? |
| #11GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 13:13:52 | Well, I'm hispanic, too, but I didn't care for it at all. And I still hate the name. Every time I read it I think of the word "chew". |
| #12lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 13:17:16 | Well, I did care for Maztica (me being latino I sorta relate to it) but if "they" aren't going to develop Abeir, what's the point ? -The point? To remove Maztica, Mulhorand, and Unther, replace them with things that are more "universal fantasy", but have a place for the aforementioned three places, for those who want to use them, still, or to milk them of the cool ideas and concepts that they had, while "sending them away". |
| #13ody_saraph_of_karsusSep 03, 2008 13:20:39 | Well, I'm hispanic, too, but I didn't care for it at all. And I still hate the name. Every time I read it I think of the word "chew". Indeed! Don't get me wrong, I'm not crying about it or feel "offended" or none of that crap. But the question still remains; we had a continent with lil lore and is being trade for a continent with even less lore(if any)?Edit: Darn you and your speed-typing LK!!:P |
| #14lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 13:22:51 | But the question still remains; we had a continent with lil lore and is being trade for a continent with even less lore(if any)? -The issue, simply, is that Maztica was "undesirable", because it was a very specific and limited genre, and that, well, the ball was dropped with Maztica, with it being almost what happened on Earth. At least, with Kara-Tur, there are some differences and liberties taken with things. Edit: Darn you and your speed-typing LK!!:P EDIT: Darn you, Ody, and editing things after I quote them! |
| #15GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 13:23:22 | "CaballeroVerde, Maztica tu comida!" "Si, mami." |
| #18lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 13:52:16 | -Too bad. The WizO's will still hit you whether or not you refuse to or not. :P |
| #19GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 13:54:13 | I guess I'll say this in english, then. You're a big doo doo head. :P |
| #20panicsSep 03, 2008 14:11:19 | Je refuse de parler l'anglais actuellement. Pourquoi pouvoir ne tous parlons pas le français, plutôt? Bad phrase construction... but if your english, its great try ! Félicitation ! It would more correctly be: " Actuellement, je refuse de parler anglais. Plutôt, pourquoi ne pas tous parler français ? " or also : " Actuellement, je refuse de parler anglais. Plutôt, pourquoi ne parlerions-nous pas tous le français ? " depends on litteral or spoken language ;) On topic... very interesting Idea ! I also found Returned-Abeir to be like any other Campaign Setting... It could actually be a Dragonlance variant ! |
| #21GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 14:33:41 | I use an online translator. The sad truth is that je parle le francais tres mal. Bad grammar or no, nothing stands in the way of my making a bad joke! :P |
| #22lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 15:19:50 | I use an online translator. -Busted! -Makes me wonder, does "Abeirran", as in a language, exist? |
| #23GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 15:25:30 | Fooled you, though. :P |
| #24ody_saraph_of_karsusSep 03, 2008 15:28:20 | Fooled me ... ![]() |

| #27GreenKnightSep 03, 2008 20:50:23 | (Ahhh-ah-ah-ah) Someday we will find... the Cities of Gold! NOT ANYMORE! ![]() |
| #28naexSep 03, 2008 21:30:01 | -Busted! There common could in theory be different from Realms common, that would be an annoyance though, so it probably got changed by the Spellplague |
| #29lord_karsusSep 03, 2008 21:44:31 | I must say I do not mourn the loss of Egypt or the Incas -Maztica, I don't mourn, either. Mulhorand, I did like, and will miss. There common could in theory be different from Realms common, that would be an annoyance though, so it probably got changed by the Spellplague -...Spellplague... |

| #31lord_karsusSep 05, 2008 22:40:13 | -It'd be interesting to see just exactly that'd be accomplished, anyway... |
