Aboleth Sovereignty and the Sword Coast (campaign help)...

So, I have gotten started on the bare bones outline for the campaign setting that I am starting on Sunday. I know I am going for a sort of Pirates of Caribbean/Brotherhood of the Wolf feel with this setting. Firearms and Renaissance fashion will be more prevalent in my version of the Forgotten Realms then in a typical Forgotten Realms game.

That being said, I am starting the game in Loudwater. From there, depending on my players choices, they will head off to find the oracle, to head to the tower of Draigdurroch, or MAYBE to go after the Njarans who the bandits have been selling children to (this is the campaign path I am really not sure about. I don't know if it at all fits with my overarching setting goals). Whichever direction they go in, my goal is to eventually lead them to the High Moor and to the Court of Meriona. I think this is what I want to set as the climax of the heroic tier of their campaign. From there I sort of want to move the game towards a paragon and epic tier that in large part deal with fighting against the Aboleth Sovereignty. Now, this makes a push towards the local of the Sea of Fallen Stars a given. However, ideally, I eventually wanted to push the game towards the Sword Coast. I sort of want to have the game briefly touch on locals such as Amn, Baladurs Gate, Candlekeep, Waterdeep, and Chult. But, these locations don't seem to have anything to do with the Aboleth Sovereignty one way or another. So, I was wondering, can anything think of some tie such locations to a setting dealing with the Aboleth Sovreignity and Xxiphu as the BBEG in epic and paragon tiers of play?

Right away I get the idea that you want to borrow a bit of Indiana Jones/King Kong and have your players set sail to Chult to find an artifact/item/ritual of "life" or some similar themed power that can withstand the combined reality-altering nature of Xxiphu.

Maybe the lost godhead of Ubtao or something like that.

This would let your players make their way to and inside the roving city.

Perhaps at the Epic Tier Xxiphu ends up making its way inland to a place important to the players. Your PCs use what they find in Chult to halt the city's advance just as it arrives, then the city waits breathlessly below as the players venture within Xxiphu to defeat the combined might of the Aboleths once and for all.

(Edit: Perhaps the Quomec Ziggurat mentioned on page 103 of the FR Campaign Guide could be the PC's destination. It's said to be covered in indecipherable glyphs. Maybe these glyphs are the counter/compliment to the glyphs inscribed all over the obelisk that is Xxiphu, and Lord Quomec is an unknown primordial/deity with the power to grant worthy mortal champions the ability to slay/banish the aboleths back to their prison in Abeir, as Lord Quomec [for the purposes of this campaign idea] did millenia ago.

Maybe the aboleths are sending their minions forth to discover Quomec's location and also seek to slay any who wish to find Quomec, to ensure their everlasting existence in Faerûn.)

You're welcome. I just wish there were two of me, because this is the kind of shared-theme campaign I'd like to play in!

Reminds of an Eberron game I was in once.

Edit: Were you going to borrow any themes from the 7th Sea roleplaying game?

I have never played 7th sea, and the extent of my knowledge about the setting is that it deals with pirates... so probably not. :P

Aboleth Sovereignty is talked about in the book lPague of Spells.
