I know @#%#$^#$&$ and by Lord Bane's ( insert favorite phrase here), that  logo in the top of the cover art is not the symbol of Baldur's gate. Its Bhaal's unholy symbol. did anyone else notice it or was I just slow.....

Aren't they the same symbol? I mean, BG probably used that because it was going to be about the Bhaalspawn thingy.

Baldur's Gate coat of arm is this symbol;

Baldurs gate crest

Interestingly, it uses Bhaal's older symbol and not the one that changed with Throne of Bhaal;

You can read more on why did the Bhaal symbol change in ToB?

Officially, the symbol of Bhaal is the Skull with a circle of tears, so they had to go back to the old one if they planned to stick to source material.

I certainly didn't miss on that slight.  Also note that Bhaal is/was the Lord of Murder,

The original title of the adventurer was Storm over Baldur's Gate yet they changed it to MURDER in Baldur's Gate as they revealed the cover with the symbol of Bhaal ....

I suspect this adventure will see the return of the deity, which is good news to fans who have lost gods to the Time of Troubles and Spellplague

Ah. I had though they were drops of blood.

... or Bhaal's sweat. giggle.

tears of blood or bloody tears (forgot which term was used exactly) to be correct, so you are right

About it, at Gen Con they'll give dice bag with Bhaal symbol on one side and cool artwork on the other.

btw: I just completed a long LFR campaign that (unavoidably) focused heavily on "Bhaal's Essence". Thank you LFR, for forcing me continually reference that term.

Since "Murder in Baldur's gate" will be used for the next season of encounters (to be followed by more adventures from the same storyline), I see another whole year or three of constant juvenile tittering from my players due to Bhaal references. Thank you WotC.

Update: I just now looked up the pronunciation. It's actually pronounced "Bale"?
... boy do I wish I learned that earlier...

I'm just kinda curious as to where that mountain/hill thing came from... never seen that one mentioned in any of the material I've looked through.  That new with 4e, or did someone just pop it in like it had always been there?

Spellplague bro, Spellplague.

But seriously, most maps ive seen of Baldur's Gate cutoff right before that hill, so its entirely possible that its always been there. And from the description in the 4e books I expected more buildings outside the city walls.

Matt Sernett posted more picture of Murder in Baldur'sGate on Twitter;

@Sernett Showed Murder in Baldur's Gate to @helensernett. She got sucked in by Greenwood's prose about nightlife there.

I'll take Spellplague over always been there.  Can you really imagine the Flaming Fist just letting a big ol' hill sit there unfortified when artillery mounted on it could have unobstructed line of sight over most of the city and rain death down on the defenders?  Really?  Because I can't see Duke Eltan being even remotely cool with it myself.

Yeah, doesnt make much sense to have a big hill there and not have a tower or something up there, maybe theres a story to it, like its haunted or something, guess we'll have to wait and see.

This is good stuff. I might have to get my hands on this for the maps/artwork alone.

As far as the mountain/hill, it could contain tattered areas of the weave or held/holds plague areas which would be dangerous or difficult to hold a fortification.  Never know there might be something in the text about it's history.  I preordered this as soon as I heard Ed was going to be involved.  I think that was back in January to March.
