| #1Kensan_OniOct 09, 2008 1:26:52 | Place: Daggerdale, in the Dalelands The town of Dagger Falls does have a reason to fear the night. The Cult of Malar has been performing dark rituals, helping the pure Lycanthropes in spread their disease. They have converted several of the farmhands around the outskirts of town into wererats, and other farmers are just starting to 'disappear' in the middle of the night. In reality, the Priests of Malar are using these kidnappings in horrific hunts late at night, taking on hideous beast-like half forms. Hooks to get players involved- - The Characters are approached by a farmer who begs the players for help with his rat problem. The catcher refuses to deal with the rats, and he thinks one of the rats ended up killing Rex, the foxhound. He is willing to part with some old family heirloom (Worth a Treasure Parcel) if they are willing to just help him get rid of the rats. - The Characters come across a corpse of a woman that has viciously been murdered the previous night. Afterwords, her haunt (A apperation that is mostly harmless) follows around the players, telling them to go get the clawed ones. - The Characters run across a Piper and several children (Those with Lore will spot a old pendant that belongs to the Harpers serving as a cloak pin). The Harper is taking them out of Daggerdale, as the children are orphans who have been witness to horrible killings by giant beasts. He will direct the players to the town of Dagger Falls if they want to investigate further. New Monster

| #3lord_karsusOct 10, 2008 11:05:10 | -You spelled 'Malar' incorrectly, in the monster stat block. |
| #4Kensan_OniOct 10, 2008 18:35:32 | *looks up again* Yep. You're right. Fixxed. |
| #5lord_karsusOct 10, 2008 20:10:35 | -Yep...I don't know if you were intentionally trying to go for it, but with the rats, the children, and the piper, there's a definite 'Pied Piper' feel. |
| #6Kensan_OniOct 10, 2008 21:05:20 | Well, when you have an opening for twisting a classic, go for it! |
| #7lord_karsusOct 10, 2008 21:31:07 | -I'm assuming that it was intentional, then? |
| #8Kensan_OniOct 10, 2008 21:35:56 | Yes, the situation is intentional, and allows for some interesting reactions, depending on how deep the players read it. At best, they don't catch it. At worse, they do catch it, and accidentally assault a Harper Agent. In either case, openings for interesting stories happen. |
