However, early in P3, the players will explore the Tomb of Sartine, a Shadar-Kai worshiper of the Raven queen, that became a sorrowsworn when she died. Her tomb is filled with Undead guardians and that is the problem...Kelemvor and his worshipers would never use the Undead to guard things, as Kelemvor despises/hates the undead (especially the unitelligent ones). What would be appropriate replacements as guardians for a tomb of a worshiper of Kelemvor? |

Jergal, who acts as Kelemvor's senechal, has never felt beholden to Kelemvor's prohabition, and is neutrally ambivalent towards Undead. Alternativley, you can have Undead as independent "left overs" from when Myrkul and Cyric were the deities of the dead. Both utilized Undead, and such vestiges of former deities of death would fit in an ancient crypt, or whatever. Not everyone got the memo, so to speak, when the job changed hands. |

Just as followers of Kelemvor would find this unacceptable so would followers of the Raven Queen. I have devised an answer which I post for those like me who might be about to run it but are in search of answers. The solution is she didn't. She filled the tomb with angels and elementals just as she did the last half of the tomb. But previous adventurers (of which their skulls and bones are plentiful in T1 and T4) seeking her skull wiped them out before they succumbed themselves. The bone nagas and death knight migrated in. They performed the ritual that created the boneclaw. Dead adventurers infused with necrotic energy from the shadowfell rose to become the wraiths, wights, and ghouls. A fate that looms over the heads of our own players characters should they fail in their mission. My own players who have been together since Keep on the Shadowfell have all over time converted to service to the Raven Queen (I encouraged this knowing what lies ahead in this and the epic tier adventures). They should find this defiling of Sartines tomb particularly troubling. |
