| #2suin_bahhar_02Apr 04, 2010 16:04:44 | Sure. One thing I like about this is that it brings a more continual story to the conflict of Talos vs Gruumsh. The real thorn here is the subjugation of Talos to Silvanus. I think he'd probably prefer to follow someone wo promises room for conquest, not balance. Bane would be a better fit for his servitude, and Bane could call upon Talos for destructive aid if he needs some extra oomph for his warmachine. Talos and Bane make a terrifying force, even if Talos was weakened his anger would make him like a Garagos like battle rager. Bane might have enough control over Talos to make him more effective by strategic advice and coercion. |
| #3mbrandApr 04, 2010 22:08:55 | This is true. Older writings seemed to suggest that Malar and Silvanus had little toleration of each other yet there the Beast Lord is, under Silvanus with the rest of the furies. Im not certain that Talos would be safe under the thumb of Bane. Assuming he's weak enough that he actually has to submit to someone, it would seem sure foolish to turn to Bane... But then again, I couldn't really use wise and Talos in the same sentence together with a straight face anyways. Still, going to Bane seems to be more a recipe for certain death than subjecting himself to Silvanus (where he might figure he has time to recoup). The issue comes up because I don't like the Talos/Gruumsh scenario as written. This seems a decent compromise - it lets Gruumsh grow in power by commandeering the domain of destruction and still keeps Talos around as a storm god. |
| #418DELTAApr 04, 2010 23:43:40 | Make Talos Cyric 'secret agent' in the Realms. Or Talos was seduced by Shar. Talos would be bitter over his loss of station. Great idea OP. ![]() |
| #5creyzi4zb12Apr 09, 2010 10:53:48 | I've always thought of Talos to be one of the major deity in teh Realms...now Gruumsh's power cannot be denied!! I just hope that one eye kills an elven god soon. |
| #618DELTAApr 09, 2010 15:55:52 | You and me both...;) |
| #7JudgeDookieApr 10, 2010 23:09:37 | OP, your points are valid, but--as I usually do--I agree with Suin on this. Bane would simply be a more ideal fit due to his agressiveness. Which, you more or less agree with in your post anyway. Why wait for justification when you can destroy at will? |
| #8Nai_CalusApr 11, 2010 19:33:40 | Gruumsh couldn't find his own ass with both hands and a candle, let alone one of the Seldarine. |
| #9JudgeDookieApr 11, 2010 21:25:01 | Does that mean you are going to help him feel his way to it? ![]() |
| #10johnkretzerApr 14, 2010 11:35:58 | Would not Talos make more sense as a primal spirit thingee...? I addmitly got no idea what they are vesides a very loose desciption of the concept. |

You make a very good point there, Talos could indeed work as a Primal Spirit. Or perhaps a Primordial. As I understand it the Primordials are like the personifications of the destructive forces of Nature, so that to me has Talos written all over it. There does seem to be a very, very fine line between Primordal, Primal Spirit, Archfey, and the gods, and many gods seem to blur those lines even more. |

Yeah...I think they killed Talos off too fast...especialy with gods...who are not gods idea the seem to be having. Though I guess they didn't know that they would come up with this at the time they got their orders to kill a whole bunch of gods off. I am wondering though....slightly off topic...what is a primal spirit? and a archfey? and how are they different from gods? If people want to reply to this via PM to me that might be a good idea as not to derail this thread. |
